Afternoon folks,  Still struggling with this cold.  No energy at all and no taste or smell.  Still negative for COVID though.  I've managed to feed and water the veg and pots  but that's as good as it's going to get today.
Apart from visiting Firstborn on Sunday we have no plans over the coming days so Ill be able to hide away from the heatwave.
Hi from Kingswinford in the West Midlands

I nipped into nearby town to pick up a parcel of stuff from Boots and it was quite cool and comfortable. It is still overcast and breezy here. That extreme heat we have been threatened with could expand a lot of peoples' doors and windows - especially those who have opted for the dark frames so popular at the moment - causing jamming. The warnings on TV are concerning.
SGL, Jack's eye seems (to him) to be OK. Fingers crossed it stays like that.
Hazel, you rascal! Mind you it is adorable and I reckon I couldn't part with it either.
Rosie, its good to see you and I'm glad to hear Alfie is fed. How is he coping in the heat? Lily is loving it!
Yvie, sorry to hear that you are still feeling one degree under. I hope that you feel well enough to enjoy your Sunday visit.

@Songbird-1 glad the cuddly Chicken has arrived. From your picture the other day, he does look very cute.
@wfnp5bk4spsSNFYKh1 Rosie it's so good to see you. Hope you're sleeping better.
@Yviestevie do hope you feel better soon. Take care.
@Ladybird4 glad Jack is feeling ok,  hope he's able to have his eye done soon.

It's really hot here, 40° in the conservatory, impossible to sit in there 🥵
Have just been watching the news, they said 1 in 16 have covid.

Good Afternoon everyone, dashed off this morning to see mum before work,
LB Lucky to have had some rain, would definitely be up for a dance in it if it arrives 😊
Rubee We close our curtains during the day too, it does help to keep the rooms cooler,
Debs Hope work goes well today and the staffing levels are better now,
Rosie Nice to see you I hope you are sleeping better & glad Alfie is eating,
SGL Pleased you slept through last night, sounds like we are in for a very hot few days next week hope the rain arrives soon 🤞
Yvie I’m pleased you are still testing negative, hope you start to feel better soon,
Hazel So pleased the chicken has arrived safely, I wonder what name 23 will give to him or her 🤔 Enjoy having your haircut this afternoon,
Busy I hope you got the weeding done before the heat became too much,
The weekend is here again, have a nice evening everyone.

I weeded 2/3 of the bed before the shade went, filled a wheelbarrow, but wasn't just weeds. I cut down flowered plants and battered plants from the hailstorm. It's not a very big bed, surprised how much there was.

Daughter 1 has gone on holiday to Tuscany. 36° there today. They have a yellow warning, so does SW France but the UK has a red one. 32° here, 38° from Sunday.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Glad you're pleased with your haircut @Songbird-1 I haven't done much today either. Put a few wet cloth things on the line and then brought them in again once dry and that's about it really 🤭
@Chivetalking bet your mum was happy to see you today. Hope it wasn't too hot at work today.
@Busy-Lizzie sounds like you've been a busy lizzy again, take care of your back.
It's just starting to cloud over, but still very warm. Would like it to rain tonight.

    I love that picture SGL.
Hazel, if you are very good, 23 might let you have a little cuddle with the chicken. I keep thinking its Saturday today as well. Very odd that.
Well done Busy on getting the biggest part of the border tidied up. Do you have a compost bin?
