I got a half price clematis from Homebase that looked rather sorry for itself. Took it home, cut it back and potted up the cuttings. I now have three and have given two to rellies. Not sure which one it is of course but it appears to be a vigorous group three with lilac flowers.
I bought some geranium phaeum £4 each for a 6 inch pot a couple of weeks ago, and I don't like them. 🤣 They're only for the wild patch though, so as long as the pollinators like them it was mine well spent.
We’ve recently returned from a lovely holiday at Lake Garda in Italy. Many of the gardens had a star jasmine “fedge”” the scent as you walked by was gorgeous. I researched the plant when I returned home, and thought in the right spot it would be ok. They seemed quite expensive on line and I don’t really like buying plants sight unseen. Anyway went to ALDI for ordinary shopping and guess what? Star jasmine on sale, robust plants about 3 feet high….the best bit the price £7.99. It almost jumped into the trolley.
@Bilje I didn't know that word "fedge". Hope your star jasmine grows ok. Mine is only just starting to bloom and I'm looking forward to its lovely scent!

Oops trying to find out how to quote and I did it twice…living and learning. I heard the term fedge years ago…I think it’s real. A climber grown against a fence until it’s all one entity. I once had an ivy one, it became an absolute nightmare. My jasmine has lovely blossom on it, obviously grown in a poly tunnel in the Netherlands…. I’ll break it in gently as it will be living🤞in NE England.
Visit to Hilliers GC near Cheddar today, in the bargain corner picked up two large cotoneaster frigidus Cornubia, a viburnum davidii, a rosemary Blue Cascade, a tiarella Spring Symphony and an anemone sylvestris, all good size plants (the last two should be suitable for splitting sometime), cost £22 the lot instead of £50!
