Thanks @Ladybird4 I have tried to grow ammi Majus many times can’t get it to succeed. Same with cow parsley the dark leaved plant which I love. Obviously don’t like my soil. Or my garden. Every plant just doesn’t work in every garden does it?
Good Morning LB, Hazel & Debs and all to follow, a wet start here today but it has stopped now, LB I hope you can get into the garden today, weather permitting🤞and bestie and her mum have a lovely break to the Pine lake. I’m back to school tomorrow, we have a bonus day off today 🥳 Hazel Hope you have a lovely time today with 23 & his sister, fingers crossed that weather is kind for you all today…but maybe take welly boots & anoraks just in case 😉 Debs Hope you find something suitable at the GC for that spot in the garden, enjoy your day off, SGL Hope the rain has moved on today so you can get outside, in my mind you are about 5’8” with very neat short fair straight hair. You wasn’t far off with your description I’m 5’4” with shoulder length brown curly hair, I was convinced Topbird had Auburn hair and I pictured Hazel like Mary Poppins. Going to mums today she has some plants to put in the border we cleared last week, best get my gardening togs & clogs to go.
Good morning everyone . I too am glad to get back to normal after such an iconic weekend . Lily I think you have blonde hair and you are about five feet six tall . still half asleep . See you later .
Morning everyone, Late arriving today, didn't sleep that well and then overslept. Has rained again during the night, everything looks soaked, although we didn't get the storms that were forecast. It's not raining at the moment, but looks very grey and breezy. @Ladybird4 yes there was another lady that ruined a song, although can't remember which one now. Apparently Rod Stewart didn't want to sing Sweet Caroline, but was told to by the BBC. Love that song, not really his best, but it got the crowd going. I really enjoyed Ed Sheeran singing after the pageant yesterday. It's one of my favourite songs. Hope you stay dry on your trip to the village shops. @Songbird-1 have a wonderful time with 23 and his sister today. Sounds like the perfect place to take them. They will certainly enjoy the go-carts. Have fun. @debs64 enjoy your day in the garden. You're right, it's funny how some plants thrive in some gardens and others just don't like it at all. @Chivetalking enjoy your last day at home. Eldest poppet doesn't go back until Wednesday, the school have two inset days tagged on to half term. @Rubee have a restful day. Hope Rosie is well and she manages to get back on RES soon.
Funny how you all imagined me blonde. I'm 5'4" dark brown hair, side parting and styled with the sides brushed back......a bit like one of Princess Diana's styles. So medium length I suppose with the back touching the collar. Medium build....12 to 14 and brown eyes. Had never thought myself short when younger , but these last few years I wouldn't mind being an inch or two taller, clothes seem to be so long now. Or maybe it's because I don't really wear high heels any more 😂😂 Unmentionables to do today, see you later. Have a lovely day everyone
Afternoon all (just). About to have a quick bite of early lunch before I head out to the PO to post the cards and presents for the wedding and 4 birthdays happening while we're away (it's ok - I've got a bank loan to pay the postage😉). Then it's SM and then hairdressers for a trim and highlights.
Bit fed up with the weather. It's wet through again - and I'm genuinely not moaning about the rain because we never get enough - but it's really mucked up the schedule for cutting the grass before we go away. Will need to rewrite my 'To Do' lists at this rate😉
@star gaze lily - you asked why I'm cutting off the rosebuds. Same reason as I'm cutting so much of the other stuff really hard back before it's really ready for it. After Wednesday it will be nearly 4 weeks before I get the chance to do anything in the garden. I don't want the roses to flower while I'm away when there's nobody here to dead head them and then be faced with a few weeks of looking at roses with few flowers. If I cut them back now there's a good chance they'll be budded up ready for my return.
I'm still trying to work out what sort of an eejit gardener would agree to remove themselves from gardening duties for a total of 6 to 7 weeks in the period 1 May to the beginning of July...🤔
Right - must crack on SYL
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Oh sorry @Topbird I didn't realise you were on holiday for 4 weeks. Good idea 😊
I'm getting fed up with this weather too. It's 's just stopped raining and it's so very cold. I've even thought of putting the heating on for awhile, it's so chilly.
Afternoon all. Was in the garden this morning but everywhere was damp. I've loaded up lots of the plants I've grown for handy brother into my car boot as I will be taking them down to his bungalow tomorrow. Some of the Aubrieta 'Royal Blue' has got flowers on it. I didn't think they would flower until next Spring so that is a pleasant surprise. I sowed the seeds on February 17th so I would guess that they are easy to grow.
Sis-in-law is out of hospital. She'll be happy about that as it is so much easier to recover in familiar surroundings.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Hi folks, I've finally managed to get some gardening done today. It's been very muggy but at least the rain held off. I've got all the pots planted up and lots of perennials grown from seed have been planted in the back garden. Still have quite a few to get in but I can take my time with the rest. Bestie is coming over soon to pick up plants that I have grown for her. I've also dug up a large grass that is constantly used as a toilet by something prowling around the garden. Lovely healthy plants LB I bet Handy brother will be pleased with them. I didn't like leaving the garden for a week Topbird, don't think I could bear to leave it for a month. I've got another week away at the end of July a few days in August and then 2 weeks end of August/September.
Afternoon everyone, been a very overcast day but have at-least been able to get outdoors, LB Those plants look lovely and healthy, they’ll be a nice pop of colour to see in handy brothers garden. So pleased to hear sis-in-law is home from hospital, I hope she recovers well now, SGL Hope you are feeling better after a rotten sleep, I know what you mean about your height, I only feel tall at work until they reach year 6 😀 Lucky Eldest poppet has a nice extended break, hope she enjoys the extra days off, Topbird Hope the PO charges weren’t too hefty, I bought a doz 1st class stamps recently and was shocked 😳 Busy I hope you are feeling the benefit of having a quiet day, you do so much it must catch up with you in the end, Yvie Pleased to hear you’ve been able to do some gardening, I’m sure bestie will be delighted with the plants you have grown, Rubee I hope Bluebells is able to sort out the password soon, hope you’ve been having a good day in the garden, Time to start dinner, have a nice evening everyone.

I didn't mind Celeste but she did look very gloomy. I didn't like Rod Stewart singing Sweet Caroline, not at all his style of song.
Having a quiet day. Overslept this morning.
