Morning all. Bit of a lazy start but I shall be off to the SM in a bit and then I think some indoor jobs. We have 5 birthdays and a wedding while we're away so cards to write and parcels to wrap ready to send just before we leave.
Spent most of yesterday in the garden planting out, cutting back and weeding. Not today - much cooler and a little rain is possible (hope so). Things I'll amuse myself by writing some lists of things to take and jobs to do.
@Ante1 - I do hope your crops are ok - that is quite a dramatic weather change. It's enough of a worry when it's just things you're growing in a small garden let alone when you're running a commercial smallholding.
I'm another who's a side sleeper and likes a softer (but still supportive) mattress. I have come home from MIL's with bruises on my hip before now. Her spare bed has the lumpiest, hardest mattress I've ever come across - most uncomfortable. A decent 50mm mattress topper would make all the difference.
Enjoy your Sunday...
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
I sleep on my side or stomach. Can't sleep lying on my back and couldn't sleep on the floor. It's sunny here, but quite breezy.
Hope you have a relaxing day @Songbird-1 sounds like a very busy day yesterday. The necks of these tops are round neck Hazel. One is more like a blouse. I don't like low necklines either. @Chivetalking we're not seeing the Poppets today, but will be seeing them during the week 🥰 @Biglad my OH was a Madrid fan yesterday too ⚽️ @debs64 have fun in your garden. Hope you find someone at the allotments who can make use of the chicken wire. Hope you catch the mole 🤬 @Busy-Lizzie Sorry if I've missed anyone, minds gone blank.
Having a relaxing day today. Just put a few wet cloth things outside to dry and had a whizz round with the sucky thing and that's it for today.
I watched Poirot, yes I know, again Poirot 😁. Here is already afternoon and weather is still bad.
Hazel, we have little bit different breaks than school in UK. It's now 20 days till the end of school year, at least for pupils. Summer breaks are longer here.
@Topbird just googled hoheria tree and I wish I lived nearby I think it’s beautiful but I understand it makes sense to keep your garden manageable. I don’t regret giving up the allotment although I miss it, just one more job in a life that already has too many. Hope you find a good home for your lovely tree.
That's a shame @Songbird-1 it's a beautiful tree, but they do grow quite tall. I'm sure you'll find something to put in it's place when you go to the GC 🪴😉 As Debs says hope you find a home for your tree. It's been rather chilly at times today, Sun then clouds and a slight breeze.
Hazel ,I have a silver birch in a very large pot and it’s thriving .I wonder if you could pot your lovely tree up and put it in a convenient place. It has grown to about eighteen feet .
Afternoon All, OH and I went to see mum & back home enjoying a very leisurely afternoon, Topbird Hope you’ve got all your shopping, cards and gifts sorted out ready to send, lots to remember, Hazel That is such a shame to remove your Hoheria tree, but it makes sense for practical reasons and now you can chose something else 😊 SGL It will be nice to see the poppets during the week, it is feeling chilly today I’ve had to put some socks on 🥶 Ante Nothing wrong with watching something you enjoy, especially when the weather is bad, Rubee How is your OH? I hope his legs are not as swollen & painful now, Have a nice evening everyone.
Afternoon all. I am a side sleeper too but I don't like soft mattresses. I am not that keen on pillows either. Lily likes them!
Ante, nothing wrong with Poirot - even the repeats are far more entertaining than some of the rubbish we have inflicted on us - until we switch the TVs off.
Hazel I was so sorry to hear that the Hoheria is going to go. You loved that tree. Is there no one nearby who would like it? That is such a shame. They are quite expensive to buy. Whatever you decide to go for next it makes sense that you check its vital statistics relating to eventual height and width. The pittosporums you are looking for sound absolutely ideal, slow growing and only reaching 1m high and 1m wide.
Debs I am sure that there will be plenty of takers at the allotment for your chicken wire and spare plants.
Today has been very rainy so I was provoked into doing something I normally do on New Years Eve - filling in all birthdays, anniversaries and appointments onto this years calendar. I have had to 'fess up to that because it has been hanging over me - like forever, and now I've got my smug face on! T'Bird, I'm thanking you for goading me into doing it with your mention of all the things you have had to have prepared before your holiday!
Chive, I bet your Mum was happy to see you today. Like you and SGL I have felt it chilly today and by all accounts it is not going to be much better in the week. Lets hope that the forecast is not completely correct for your half term.
Ruby, its better news that your OH has had some decent sleep recently. Lets hope that this continues.
