Jack was delighted with his pomegranate. He was resting when I went over so we just had a long chat about all sorts of things - put some of the world to rights. The people who own the bungalow next door to Jack are having a mahoosive extension built so Jack is keeping a careful eye on all that is occurring there, especially as they have had to put some of the scaffolding up in Jack's garden.

Well I've had a nice and unexpected day out. Went to Sutton Hoo where they have a brand new exhibition featuring the Staffordshire hoard examining the similarities between the Anglo Saxon finds at Sutton Hoo and those in Staffordshire. Lots of original finds on loan from the British Museum which was exciting to see.
They've always thought that the Sutton Hoo treasures were made locally and the evidence is strong to suggest that many of the Staffordshire finds may have come from the same workshop. All very interesting but the place was absolutely heaving with visitors - so much so that several people were clearly feeling a little uncomfortable. I decided to wear a mask in the exhibition areas and it was noticeable that others were doing the same. We're not out of the woods yet...
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
T'Bird, your visit sounds absolutely fascinating. There was quite a time difference between those discoveries and then to find some items may have come from the same workshop leads to a lot of new questions for the researchers.

Topbird sounds like you’ve had an interesting time at Sutton Hoo. Good to wear a mask in close contact. Hazel I enjoy the archaeological programmes as well. It’s a little chilly I’ll plug myself in to my cape. I’ve had breakfast and enjoying a welcome tea.
Hoping to get into the garden today but its not looking too promising at the moment. Still its early and it could be magnificent later. That might be wistful thinking.
I hope you all had good nights and that Ruby and her OH got some rest.
How long now until your Canada trip T'Bird?
Forgot to say yesterday that Bestie's Granddaughter has been having her introduction to her new, big school and she LOVES it. It was the first choice Primary School of her parents and they were delighted when she was accepted as it is a smallish school with fewer pupils to staff ratios. Apparently they had a sports day last Thursday and all the new pupils had their own little race. Sofia will go every Thursday afternoon now until she starts in September. That sounds like a great welcome to me. She has already made a friend - Freddie - and they have been busy getting to know all the others who will be in their reception class.

Very overcast here and breezy this morning. It was very windy here yesterday and rained on and off. Do hope the weather improves soon. Need another cup of tea 🍵
