  • Good evening all,

It's been a beautiful day here and of course when the sun comes out our terrace fills up, so it's been a busy one. All good though, all under control and a lovely atmosphere. We had a table of 6 Dutch ladies that took Afternoon Tea, they come every year, they had a lovely time and with the sun shining and the table all laid with white linen cloths and Fleur de Lys napkins it a looked lovely. We've also had a table of 8 holidaymakers that have eaten with us every day this week too. Bizarrely, they've had the same dish every day too, so it's turning out to be an easy check to cook. I couldn't imagine eating the same thing for lunch for 4 days straight - and our menu is 10 pages long, so it's not a problem of limited choice. 🤔😅

Anyway, home now and feeling very smug, have caught at least 2 dozen Lily Beatles in my jam jar of washing up liquid. I'm all for nature's creatures but eating my lilies is a definite no no!

Not quite sure why some float and some sink????

Evening all, spent most of the day catching up on gardening jobs like applying Pathclear to our large gravelled parking area. I used to do it by hand on my hands and knees but that's not so easy these days. Later I watered newish or wilting plants in both the back and front gardens - very pleased I bought a 2nd hosepipe for the front garden a year or two earlier, makes life a lot easier. Spotted at least three walnut seedlings and one hazel in the borders to dig out later. The delphinium seems to have survived the slug attacks and the thalictrums are growing.

Spotted this strange fungi on a very old horse chestnut tree, its growing bigger by the day. Apparently it's a Dryad's Saddle according to @Jellyfire - thanks.

Sorry, forgot to wish Moira a happy birthday and best wishes for your anniversary tomorrow @Punkdoc.

Hope the goose does survive @Hostafan1.

    Another busy day DD.

What a weird looking fungus @Lizzie27. I thought it was something plastic.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
