Back from Cambridge, had a great time. The Botanical gardens were beautiful, in particular the bog and stream gardens were looking lovely for so early in the year. The Hockney exhibition was also fab, covering works from his entire back catalogue, including some of the wonderful i-pad works of the Yorkshire countryside, throughout the year. Reminded me a bit of Monet's scenes through the seasons.
The crowning glory was our meal at Midsummer House, which we both thought could have been our best meal out, ever. For those interested in such things, I enclose a copy of the menu.
Went out for a (very) early walk this morning. Drizzle weather but lovely earthy smell, the kind you have in around late August when it rains. Nice to think that we have all the summer ahead.
Will do a bit of selective weeding today when it stops raining.
Could do with some rain here @coccinella its dry as a bone. Having to water all my new plantings every other day, and am close to having to water the whole garden. We have 4 tonnes of mulch arriving on Friday, so need some moisture in there before it all goes on (yes, iknow, iknow, its much too late to mulch. Covid got in the way of my normal spring routine 🙄)
Glad you enjoyed Cambridge @punkdoc - would love to see any pics you have of the BG.
Going to be “trained” today. I am volunteering on the Perennial garden at Chelsea this year - I’ll be the one handing out leaflets and answering questions for anyone who asks. So today we are going to find out what’s what. Perennial are a charity that support anyone working in horticulture who needs help - be it advice or financial support. They have never been needed more, so hope this garden will raise their profile a bit.
Morning folks, sunny, windy, washing out. Been helping youngest daughter with move. She said a few rude words about the gulls waking them up,(they have a loft conversion) and are just a couple of minutes away from the beach!! Same here Busy-Lizzie, would have to be a lottery win. The lunch menu is 3 weeks housekeeping money. Mind you, I've never eaten even a 3course meal in my life. When we Go out I either have a starter as my main,or kids portion carvery then I can pick what I want

Shame about the drizzle @coccinella … but I love that earthy smell … it has a name … petrichor 😊
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Mouth watering menu @punkdoc. Did you take any photos of the garden?
Looks like being another sunny day. We are going to a country fair. OH is taking his electric buggy.

I looked up that restaurant, thinking of our anniversary, but it's way beyond budget.
