Afternoon all - it's nice to go away but it's lovely to come home again.

Slept like a log in my own bed last night - I really can't get on with the single beds at Madingley. We have a big super-king 6'6" bed and one year at Madingley I had a particularly narrow bed. Rolled over and right out of bed in the middle of the night! Lay on the floor laughing at myself hoping nobody could hear the mad woman in Rm 65....

Really enjoyed the course and OH enjoyed his weekend as well (he came home with a trophy🙄) and will now get several days more enjoyment out of cleaning & fettling 'bits' and editing several hours of video footage.

Only damper on the whole weekend was the search for petrol and diesel to get us both around. No diesel at all in town yesterday - even the emergency services' emergency stock had run out and only 2 stations (out of about 15) had petrol. Suffolk and Norfolk seem to have been hit by the fuel supply issues much harder than other areas - don't know why.

I defend the right for people to protest about climate change but (IMO) they have no right to seriously interfere with the emergency services, or to make it difficult (impossible for some) for people to get to work or run their businesses, to inflict criminal damage to fuel tankers and other property and to generally hold the country to ransom.

I don't think they are garnering any additional support. Exactly the opposite - they are making many people very anti their organisation. End of rant / lecture.

Debs - love the mummy-egg. Very clever!

SGL and Yvie - glad you're starting to turn the corner with the coughs and colds. Sounds like the nasty one that was doing the rounds at the start of winter.

Evening All, lovely lunch and chat today very enjoyable,
Hope your Monday has gone well Ante, glad you had a sunny start to the day,
LB Hopefully that cough will not return 🤞and after some time in the garden today you have a better nights sleep,
Rubee I hope you got your little pool filled without becoming too cold yourself,
SGL Glad the cough is easing off but sorry to hear you still feel tired & lethargic, hope you are resting 🤗
Hazel Pleased to hear the Clemmie is looking happy, you did well to cut & edge both lawns and purchase some new lavenders, a nice idea to have them potted either side of your front door,
Dove I would love to have a long line but our garden is far too small, it must be great for bedding. Glad you decided against moving those compost bags,
Bluebells I hope you’ll be able to wear your new summer dress soon, hope fun or too long before it gets warm enough,
Debs That Egg is brilliant!  👏 Pleased you’ve got all your pots back out now and good news on the boiler,
Topbird Glad you both enjoyed the weekend and nice to be home. Son just came back from a weeks course in Kings Lynn and had remarked how he was struggling to get any fuel. The garages here now seem to be falling short again 🤦🏻‍♀️
    Have a nice evening everyone.

Oh! 😱  Is washing (done in a machine with no effort from me) and looking wonderful … bright white cotton flapping in the sunshine and breeze … really regarded as h*w*k ? (I do as little of that as possible I assure you … I’m in training to become slattern of the year 🏆)...
For me today it was a sensory and aesthetic delight I assure you … as enjoyable as sliding between fresh crisp white sheets will be later on this evening.

I shall have to guard my enthusiasm for such things 🤭

The onerous hanging out and taking in of dozens of pairs of undies and socks are, of course, entirely another matter. 😖

    I rest my case 😇

I agree with you  @Dovefromabove, the machine doing washing isn't HW and going in the garden to hang them out isn't work in the house! 😉😀

Evening all. I am preparing myself for the final of Mastermind tonight. Heaven only knows what my brain will do next week with all the quizzes finished for now.
Debs, I absolutely love Maisie's Egg Mummy. I would have given her first prize for that. The scorpion is very scary! Great news about the new boiler too as long as the land lord doesn't use it as an excuse to put your rental up. Enjoy tomorrow's wedding.
T'Bird, you are right. Coming home is always wonderful. Like Hazel I had to snigger about you rolling out of bed (sorry); been there and done that only my artistic roll was from a top bunk when I was on a field studies trip at Colomendy in North Wales. We were kept awake half the night by mice scurrying across the dormitory floors.
I'm sorry to hear that you and Chive are having difficulties obtaining fuel. There doesn't appear to be any shortage up here.

  • Goodnight LB enjoy the quizzes and hope you sleep soundly.  Top bird it will be a good feeling being in your own bed.  Chive I hope you can get a steady supply of fuel.  Just finished massaging Alfie’s throat as he suddenly had difficulties, thankfully it’s settled down now.  I hope everyone has a restful night.
