@Ladybird4 - the arched walkway appears to be constructed from hazels. It looks as though the stems get coppiced when they reach 5 - 7 cm diameter by which time newer thinner whippier growth will have grown sufficiently to be tied in to replace the older coppiced stems.

I have hazels in my garden which I have started to coppice and pollard. It's got me thinking whether I could do something a little more exciting with them.🙂

Ante - good to hear Max is recovering well.

Debs - as someone married to a partner who used to work / live away for 6 mths of the year I can sympathise with how you feel. But it's good when he's home isn't it!😎 What are the films you want to see? I fancy Operation Mincemeat.

Right - time to stir my stumps. Looks like I was lucky with the weather for my walk - it's just started raining. We had a little snow shower last night....

Ante, SGL had been feeling rather ill at the moment. She stopped by on Thursday to say that she was trying to keep away from her OH as she did not want to pass anything on to him. If you look in SGL, hope that all is OK with you.
Hazels are an interesting choice aren't they T'Bird? I was convinced you might say willow. They must look super when all the catkins are dangling from the branches. I can feel you have a definite project in mind!
BTW, I passed fields of oil seed rape coming into flower yesterday when I was on the bus coming back from Canasta. That seems to be really early to me. The acid yellow colour of the flowers is unmistakable though.

Evening all,  Sitting on the sofa at the moment in jim jams and fluffy dressing gown trying to get warm.  The heating has gone on and I'm waiting for hubby to come back with a Chinese takeaway.  Haven't been lazy all day though.  This morning between us we managed to mow the lawns and I weeded the front borders.  Planted a couple of perennials that had been hanging around in pots.  Watered the front pots as they don't get much in the way of rain.  Then this afternoon I sowed a few more trays of seeds.
Don't think I'll sow anymore, except for a few veg/salad seeds to keep the crops going.
Think we will both sleep well tonight.
Secondborn is supposed to be taking me to Blenheim tomorrow or Monday.
Thinking of you BL.  You have had more than your share of bad luck with the new house.  Hope things settle down soon.
Ante hope that snow disappears soon I think we are all hoping for some warmer weather soon.

@Topbird I fancy the new Harry Potter film and The Lost City with Sandra bullock I love her. Fiancé wants to see The Northman. It’s about Vikings so I don’t mind I find them very interesting.

Yvie, you are wearing my favourite clothing for chilling out in the evening. Enjoy your takeaway. Whichever day you go to Blenheim on I'm sure that you will enjoy your trip especially in the company of your Secondborn. I am signing out for tonight so I'll see all you lovely people tomorrow. Have great evenings!

I'm glad Max is doing well @Ante1

I hope @star gaze lily is OK.

That looks a beautiful place @Topbird I like the pergola.

I spent the a lot of the day in the garden, it was a lovely day, no coat. Sowed my flower mixture in the donkey paddock this morning and various veg this afternoon.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

  • Good morning all.  A chilly night.  I’m waiting for a morning delivery until mid morning of a heater for when I bathe and wash my hair, some good reviews, hope it will be okay.  Alfie’s gone back to bed.  Lily I hope you had a good nights rest @star gaze lily.   Some colder weather forecast before possible warmer ones.  I hope you all slept well.  Overnight booked a courier collection for courier to bring labels scheduled for Tuesday, saves carrying.  Time for tea.

Good morning Rosie and all to follow.

Rosie, I hope that delivery will come on time.

I have my tea. Outside is calm, but very cold. I can see snow all over hills, and my cottage is also snowed in. Today is day for rest. There is plenty of quality program to watch. At this moment is Father Brown.

    Have a nice Sunday.

Good morning RosieBB and all later arrivals. Wow but its frosty here this morning. I'll have to check on the baby plants in the GH but first a cuppa. I did not have a restful night last night but I did a lot of reading. I cannot remember whether it was Debs or Yvie who recommended The Thursday Murder Club to me but thank you, its an entertaining read. I can actually visualise Richard Osman reading it aloud. Hmmm is that a possibility, visualising a sound? Well anyway, I'm sure you get what I'm on about. Now where's that tea?
