..talking of Foxgloves, I wasn't going to sow any more seeds this year, but changed my mind, as I like this particular strain -Camelot -.. I will pot these on and they will be good sized plants by late summer for planting out then.. flower next May.. Â
..2nd bloom on 'St. Nicholas'.. the scent from the stamens is just gorgeous today, like sweet cloves.. I already have a place allocated in the garden for it later on..
^ very pretty, I like the the watermarked effect on the petals @Marlorena. I wondered about a potassium feed for TP, so thanks for advising that, I don’t have any tomato food yet (it’s getting more and more difficult to get thinks like seaweed and tom food here) but I do have some soluble sulphate of potash so will try that and see if it perks up. His blooms can be heavy, you’re right, but not normally quite so bad!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
..yes, Sulphate of Potash should be good, so I'm told Nollie, and I hadn't noticed the watermarking, I should pay more attention, thank you, interesting feature..

@newbie77 and @Marlorena thank you for your advice re burying the graft. I will just leave them for now and put them deeper later in the year. Can't wait for those first blooms but they will be a lot later where I am.
Marlorena recently highlighted the amazing roses in air pots of Hoang Ton of Florida. I’m a long time lurker on the US Houzz roses forum (well worth a lurk!) where he posts and he has just posted this lovely video of his roses in the ground. Different growing conditions of course, but it’s really great to see decent bush shots of his roses including many DAs. Quite long, so pour yourself a Friday night drink and enjoy!
2 DA climbing roses free with purchase of an arch. Bit expensive but my obelisk was of a very superior quality; heavy and galvanised. Free delivery just by signing up fpr Garden Rewards.
Hi @Nollie, thanks for that link. The garden is quite amazing - I wonder how many people look after it? `Little` isn't the adjective I would use! As you say, really valuable and interesting to see the whole bushes as stand-alones, to see their shapes, sizes, growth habits etc - these things are usually not shown on web-sites/in catalogues etc.
Thanks for sharing that link @Nollie. The roses are so very healthy, no aphids, no black spot, no mildew. I wonder how they are kept so very healthy and floriferous.
