@Tack my Warm Welcome looks very much like your Anniversary Rose - it started loosing some of the very few leaves it’s managed to grow since February and now the main stems are turning yellow. I’ve got mine from Style roses. I contacted them and they’ve advised to give it a trim, which I’ve done a few days ago - I definitely didn’t notice any improvement since then and it looks like another main stem is dying off now:(
Everyone's 'Malvern Hills' looking good, it's fantastic in full flush.. 'Lady Waterlow' is nice too, my type of rose ..
@Tack I wouldn't have cut that Standard back. It would have started to shoot out anyway, without the pruning. It was just waiting for warmer nights and warmer days.. I suspect they are kept in cold storage and it takes a long time to acclimatise out of it. Whilst nights are 4 or 5C nothing much is going to happen, but once they reach 9 or 10 and signs of frost disappear, things get moving.
As for your Anniversary Rose, I had the same problem, in fact worse than yours there. Mine was in the ground and it did not move a muscle until I dug it up and potted it, placed in the greenhouse, then it started to grow. I lost one cane so was left with just one stick. Here's what it still looked like in early July..  ..end of July it looked like this, so I placed it back outside..
..it's now one of my best and favourite roses..  it needs warmth. Patience is a virtue with some types of roses but pays off in the end..
Thank you @marlorena for your advice. I should have asked here first but I was starting a refund process I thought. My patience was lacking after 6 months, the last 2 examining the canes daily! but I'll know next time. Hopefully Anniversary rose becomes as good as yours.
@Oliya, it looks like sellers just recommend pruning, perhaps just to seem to be doing something and buy time! Fingers crossed for your Warm welcome too.
I have had mildew in new bare root roses before so it is reassuring Chippendale will probably shrug it off too, thanks @edhelka.
@Marlorena, you commented on how you disliked your concrete fence pots. One solution would be to paint them - possibly black or even brown to match your fences?
@Lizzie27 ..yes, thanks Lizzie, good idea. I've seen others do this. It's something we should have had done at the beginning really. Not something I could do now, but I might get a couple of bird feeders to hang off the big screws..Â
I think it's Chelsea Flower Show next week.[?]Â I rarely watch it as they never show any roses..Â
I just looked up Parc Cervantes in Barcelona, and rather like Nollie's endeavours, I found myself going around in circles on their website and not really finding anything. I tried a couple of sites too. Eventually I found it on google maps as I understand they have thousands of roses. There doesn't seem to be much parking available, just a small area that I could see, and what a busy thoroughfare - Avinguda Diagonal, reminded me of spaghetti junction.
You have my sympathies Nollie. The Parc looks nice though. Pedro Dot's most famous roses, as far as we are concerned, would be 'Nevada' and 'Mme. Gregoire Stachelin'..Â
Hopefully you wont have set back your Eden standard too much @Tack, the advice did seem to me to be a ‘better suggest something’ thing to say! Eden does have a reputation as a slow starter.
My Dee-Lish/Anniversary Rose or Line Renauld as I bought it, was a late bare root purchase from Italy which I grew on in the poly. Proving @Marlorena’s theory that it likes heat as it’s healthy and shot up fast:
Stormy Weather enjoying morning sun, sorry about the orange hose reel!
Soul is starting! I always look forward to this rose whilst hoping we don’t get a huge rainstorm to spoil the voluptuous, fragrant blooms. La Rose de Molinard on the obelisk behind is looking much healthier this year, so finger’s crossed for that too:
Pot pets:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
