@Penny_Forthem you have my deepest sympathies, we recently had to make that horrible decision too. Our girl’s ashes are being delivered tomorrow so she will be planted under a rose and I will get a little memorial plaque made.

I’m sure they will sort themselves out @Pianoplayer, mine were much longer and turning black so bullet duly bit and I pruned them all back yesterday. Very annoying to lose all that early promise.

Lots of early BS here too, the foliage on my trio of Lady Ems is a mess, looks like end of season, not beginning.

More black spot because a mild winter in the UK, so we think?  Though it doesn't sound like Nollie has had a mild winter.

For me, probably rapid cycling through really warm temps then deep freeze, rinse and repeat, Fire. Internet playing up but will try and post some photos of the good the bad and the ugly foliage later.

I’m a bit concerned now about Lady of the Lake, I’ve said before that she seems to have slowed or even stopped growing. Well the leaves are looking tatty and the canes are getting blotchy now too.

In my mind it’s one of either two things:

    1) The leaves are looking rough because she started growing quite early, back in winter, so they’ve aged already. Canes might just be changing colour as they sometimes do in Spring. She’s slowed down because she’s been under constant aphid attack since February.

    2) She’s got some sort of canker and is doomed.

    Only time will tell!

sorry to hear about the losses @Nollie and @Penny_Forthem.
Lovely idea to give them a memorial ornament in the garden.

I have been spending the last week at the seaside with the family
And to my pleasant surprise on our return…
    guirlande had a growth boost.
and unfortunately mildew spotted on pink cloud 😟. Last year zero squat zero disease on this rose

we had a mild winter here…

I  have my serious doubts on MH if I compare it with the growth of other planted bare roots of November.time will tell, but no high hopes seen the progress.(or lack)

@Penny_Forthem Im so sorry for your loss, totally understand, that was us back in December, then very suddenly in January with a youngster. Lovely memorial, brilliant idea.
    ...........
Leafing away here, few buds appearing. Ive dug up and repotted "simply gorgeous" as it was not looking happy at all. Two teeny roots growing unlike more recent bare roots which are romping away but at least its alive.

Potted it in a nice comfy pot with plenty of rootgrow and a manure breakfast, lets see how it does there before I contact styles. In contrast the rest of that orders romping away.
Bring me sunshine and summer song were covered in roots when I potted them in decorative pots, not bad for early march bare roots! Both shooting nicely. I got mme antoine mari out in front garden in lawn, pics to follow, and odyssey in back on fence corner.
Mulched my big climbers, and watered when it was hot, lets see if I can stop the dratted mildew this year!
