@owd potter my Roald Dahl looks exactly the same as yours. No others affected. We’ve had no frost either but the icy wind got up yesterday so I’ve assumed wind burn?
I noticed the same yesterday on Ness @owd potter and @MuseLea, two wilted new shoots of growth. I can't account for it unless it is weather related but for me Ness is a substantial rose with lots of new growth so it doesn't really matter. Hope your RD's recover.
Yes, weather! Practically all my rose’s tender new shoots look like that after cold weather and overnight frosts followed a warm spell @owd potter. They are dying off by themselves, but I’m hesitating to prune them off in case more frost hits.Â
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Nothing to report....just thought I’d let you know!
Easter holiday coming up though and a return to milder nights so hopefully I will have something to share soon. This week has been killer at work.
I have spotted the start of buds on Desdemona though when I got out of the car tonight, and also confirmed that Lady of the Lake has really stalled. She hasn’t really changed noticeably the last few weeks while all the rest are coming on in leaps and bounds. Must get after those aphids again.
I’ll have some quiet time tomorrow and try to get some more photos in the sunshine. Maybe finish mulching.
Nothing to report here too about roses. All leafing out.
Term break has already started in my children's schools this week and no time for gardening. I did manage to overseed lawn with the help from little one and finally we have sowed tomato and cosmos seeds.Â
Still waiting for my dahlia order from farmer gracy.Â
I have also ordered two compost bins. Existing ones are full and not ready. I didn't turn them so they have sort of become wormi composting bins.Â
I hear you, newbie. Gertrude J x 3 arrived, and today was spent continuing to dig out my front lawn during high winds, bits of the neighbour's fencing flying past my head, children running riot in the house and an aggrieved puppy barking at me through the front window because she wants to dig, too.
Gardening is such a relaxing activity, so good for mental health.
I finished pruning and tying in 'Queen of Denmark' and 'Chapeau de Napoleon' yesterday. ( I am very behind with the pruning, but the roses will be fine, if a bit late flowering.) I grow these two extremely prickly characters fanned out on a post and rail fence. Each year I look at them and think they've surely come to the end of their useful lives, but by the time I've sawn away the oldest wood, and tidied them up a bit I'm happy to give them another season. But it's not a job to do on a bitterly cold windy day. Of course yesterday was a bitterly cold windy day...... Both have a wonderful old rose scent

Good to know that it's a cold and/or wind induced issue.
I expect it will be fine come about August when it may get warmer...Â

When rose leaves are pale at the edges, is that them needing more iron?
