Fabulous roses @WhereAreMySecateurs, Albrighton and Boule are my favourites there.Â
Glad some of you are getting much needed rain. Just had good, steady rain here too, less destructive than the previous storms with their enormous drops and lashing chunky hailstones. I can’t tell you how relieved I am, not just for the garden but that the risk of forest fires has hopefully lessened 🤞
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Here no rain and temperatures always on the high end, 30 C and more, unfortunately.
i am really surprised by Lady Emma that is continually blooming, and Desprez a Fleur Jaunes. Mme Alfred Carriere has some blooms too. Sorry but I have no pictures to post, way too many mosquitos here to try and adventure out in the garden, even for some minutes, they eat your alive.
I need those long secateurs and I really need a Julia Child with my climate! Thanks @Marlorena for the historic infos, very interesting
What a fantastic lot @WhereAreMySecateurs , Albrighton Rambler is particularly gorgeous.
I agree with the Gaura appreciation, they have been great in this hot weather. Your Palais Biron is proving itself up to the heat too Nollie. One to ponder.
Another one hoping for your rain Marlorena, I hope it was enough to be useful.
I have just dragged the pot roses back into the light, they are in urgent need of deadheading and de-yellow-leafing but positioning and watering was enough for today. I hadn't noticed that my Eden standard has opened, a lovely surprise.
The forecast was for thunderstorm last night, all we got was a slight drizzle. Hoping for some heavy rain to drench the parched ground. Here are a few whites and off-whites:
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
The main ‘fault’ of Palais Biron, if you could call it that, is that the clusters are big so the blooms can get a bit squished. I often have to remove the centre ones. Not so much of a problem at the moment since hot weather = smaller blooms:
Big and blowsy, Love Song:
Ghislaine de Feligonde (standard) is repeating very well, the blooms shatter fast but there are always new ones lined up to take over:
