@Nollie you didn’t convince me to buy The Prince, but I surely will get Astronomia and I impressed by Mme Isaac Pereire (my wishlist is growing by the hour, lol).

Does MIP cope well with heat and humid? How tall and large does she get?

@dabolem MIP is fairly new for me and still finding her feet, but can get large if you allow it or grown as a climber, but as I have few spaces for those I’m keeping it in shrub form.Ā It’s in my East-facing garden in a pot under the dappled shade of a fig tree, another rose that’s best in morning sun, I suspect, but I have never tried it in full sun. It’s also been very dry this year, so much lower humidity than normal, so that’s not really not much help, sorry. I understand the best, fullest blooms are to be had in autumn so I am looking forward to that since it didn’t bloom much in it’s first year. @Omori has had MIP for longer, I think and might be able to give a better assessment?

Edit - HMF says ā€˜prefers cool sites’ which sounds familiar, and probably the reason why I put her under the shade of my fig tree!

I hope Astronomia does well for you, it’s good to have a few reliable, continuous bloomers amongst all the big, blowsy prima donnas!

I have an ordinary hose and was wondering how is your experience with soaker hose? How long can it be and does it water evenly throughout the length?

We moved into a new build and during the first spring/ summer here in 2020, Ā when we planted most things it was so hot with little rain, it took us hours to keep everything watered and alive throughout the summer. We also had 3 new lawns to keep going Ā (two at the front). Luckily I was on furlough during this period otherwise I’m not sure we would have managed it.

That’s what led to us installing the watering system ourselves that summer as it became difficult to manage (just a Hozelock do it yourself job). But with so many new plants, pots to care for, holidays etc we felt it was the way to go. We have one leading to the pots and one for the back garden beds and the raised bed. So far it’s been great, especially when we go away. Lots of different settings.Ā

You can add additional lengths to the soaker hose, , we have 3 here, it waters all the plants evenly, even with low pressure.Ā
