@cooldoc oooh interesting! Ill have to see if one near me. Just spotted primrose and a few other vendors have vaza and frayla. Id love to try more. Natalija / eveline wylde is so nice. Upcoming collection looks stunning! https://phenogenoroses.com/rose-collections/coming-soon/
My Draga is still quite small (bought as a bare root in March this year) and I’m not the best authority on scent, but its bud (https://forum.gardenersworld.com/discussion/comment/2507086#Comment_2507086) smelled as strong as a mature Wollerton Old Hall flower that I had picked the same time. Each was in a different vase and room… I just wanted to compare them. The scent is like a traditional rose fragrance, I’m not so good with detecting notes though.
Sad to report Draga got ugly purple edges in Friday’s 30C heat, whereas my DAs were unaffected, perhaps only getting a little paler. The photo below is the same flower as the one in this pic taken 3 days earlier: https://forum.gardenersworld.com/discussion/comment/2508507#Comment_2508507. I hope the flowers don’t age like this normally; will be monitoring over time.
Shed bed - just showing how Scarborough Fair has doubled in size this year. Astrantia are much more substantial too. The Ancient Mariner just behind the white AstrantiaÂ
I would be curious to know what you make of Peach Vaza, @JessicaS. It was very disappointing for me last year and this year it’s no better. I’ve placed it on my ‘relocation’ list.Â
Beautiful garden, @Mr. Vine Eye. I especially love the border with the astrantia and geranium. The chives (?) look very cute.
I love seeing everyone’s beautiful gardens and roses. But I can’t help sometimes feeling a bit down as none of my roses bloom so profusely… I’m still waiting for the first blooms on a few of my roses…
@Oliya do not worry.. some roses need to mature a bit more.. compare with others to see the growth habits and new roses to buy.. growth, blooms depend on weather, soil watering etc.. Just enjoy your roses.. I am growing mine in a very small small garden and lost most of the blooms to pests.. some of them not doing well for various reasons (unknown to me).. but then, I have a place to get out, walk around, take a sniff... and that makes my day.... I certainly do feel bad when I see my roses sulk.. but then the moment a new bloom is out.. I just want to get out and take a sniff... so don't stress.. all in good time
@Mr. Vine Eye I wonder how your house would look from a distance with those magnificent ramblers in full bloom.. lovely garden too..
thanks @Athelas I guess most red roses get their edges burned in sun..Â
@JessicaS interesting collections to look forward to.. that too based of strength of perfume.. for me I am loving Natalija.. Theo-clevers, not so much.. purely based on scent.. both had good first flush..
interesting to see that darker centre on BMS @newbie77 don't see that often in the garden.. it pales to yellow...

Newbie, that's the first pic of Bring Me Sunshine I've seen that resembles DA's advertised rose. Gorgeous.
