Emily Bronte: In the beginning I was thinking why did I buy it as there seemed to be nothing special about it as such, but I now I feel it is a very good reliable rose. Healthy and floriferous. As of now it is giving competition to Desdemona next to it and yes I must start deadheading now.
Jubilee Celebration : Now almost three year old, it is a turning in to shrub from that wimpy droopy thing. Flowers still droop but this is a rose where I feel flowers are more beautiful upside down with the colouring and lotus like petal formation.
Here are some of our climbing/rambling roses. The roses in photos 1 and 2 flower well into the autumn and some years there have even been some flowers through to December (though not so prolific). Any thoughts on ID would be much appreciated, please!
^ Lots of lovely goodies today. The single and semi-double roses are standing up well to the current hideous heatwave but the big blowsy numbers are thin on the ground here as I’ve just deadheaded all their crispy critters.
Doing surprisingly well in the heat and producing the highest petal count is Palais Biron:
Own-root Munstead Wood only a little crispy:
But The Prince is not happy, small, stunted blooms:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@Marlorena. I thought one of my Icebergs was a rambler at first in error but I think this year it may prove me wrong. I also have DA Amelia and that never flowers till much later in the year and doesn't produce anything like the blooms Grace does. It does actually have a bud at the moment. Nice to have a possible name for my random one.
@Oliya .. no that's not 'Elizabeth'... nothing like it.. I don't know which one they've sent you but you need to get back to them for a replacement/refund...
@Marlorena I wonder if it’s Roald Dahl… It looks a bit like him. I began getting suspicious when you said Elizabeth has rugosa type foliage… but I was still hoping it’ll open up pink… I’m feeling rather disappointed😪
..lovely roses again today, including beautiful ramblers.. @ShepherdsBarn .. I'm not sure exactly but I think the first one is 'Maid Of Kent'... can't see the 2nd in detail enough, sorry. Great to have a rambler or two..
@Oliya ..I don't have Roald Dahl so cannot compare but you may be right.. whatever, you do need to make a claim there.. Still, it's never an issue for them to send the replacement but I don't think they have any left in stock, so that's something to sort out..
..talking of 'Elizabeth', I'm a little disappointed about the short life span of a bloom... in cool conditions 4 good days, it falls apart on the 5th.. I find that ok, but now it's warmed up to high 70's here, which isn't exactly hot, they are falling apart earlier, 4 days tops..
.. a fully open bloom of 'Bring Me Sunshine' lasts 5 full days, disintegrating on the 6th..

@Mr. Vine Eye your RIB has firmly put this rose at the top of my “to get next” list:)
My Elizabeth is beginning to bloom and it doesn’t look very Elizabethy… @Marlorena @cooldoc and anyone else who’s got Elizabeth, what do you think?

Emily Bronte is super pretty, newbie. I love how flat and prim and contained she looks.
Just noticed one of my roses has two noses, as if being bright obnoxious yellow weren't attention-seeking enough.
