    Thanks @Marlorena and all the others for advice on my weighty 'Penvelope'. I have some quite tall half hoops somewhere and might try those first as Nollie suggested.
    It will  probably be okay unless we get a fierce summer storm with torrential rain as we did last year!

    ..love all the oranges and pinks today..

    @peteS
    .. thanks so much.. the gravel is easy enough, it has weed membrane underneath and I just top up with a bag or two here and there most years.. but it's laid to be permanent.  It was done by the previous owner, I'm not sure it would have been my choice but it's convenient now for me..
    Yes the Foxgloves are biennial, I just leave them pop up wherever..  I regard them as essential with roses..

    @murasaki
    .. your Darlow's is really nice, I'm glad you're pleased with it..  we can't get it here currently..

    Oh you have Darlow’s Enigma @murasaki, how wonderful, it has such a stellar reputation in all respects.  I’m keen to see how you get on with it and if it’s as heat tolerant as they say. Do you have it in shade or sun?

    I had noticed that Lens stocks it @Marlorena, are they not shipping to the UK anymore?

    @Nollie
    I wouldn't know, I don't check EU sites now due to the difficulties.. but it's good to know...  I expect it will be available here at some point, Peter Beales have it in their rose garden..

    @Tack I also like your 'Dames de Chenonceau'. But I have a strong distrust of French roses and your description of its weaknesses confirms it to me.

    @Marlorena Your description of BMS fragrance is intriguing, I am not into myrrh fragrances but I would love to smell it.

    @murasaki Love Darlow's Enigma, good to see it here.

    Belle de Jour is gorgeous @Pete, how do you find the fragrance? I really should try it again, I got one but it was a really sickly potted plant and died of a bad dose of botyris.
