Hi @Penny_Forthem, so sorry to hear of your hub’s diagnosis, but glad you joined us. I think you will be fine to prune your roses. Do share which roses you chose and I hope they bring you both pleasure and comfort this year too.Â
Thank you for the welcome and advice. I chose: Albert Sisley Fondest love Whiskey sour Forget me not Rock n roll Maurice Utrullo Cosmopolitan Loving mum Duchess of Cornwall Snow Queen
I shall be out there today giving them the TLC they deserve.
@Penny_Forthem welcome! Im sorry for hubs diagnosis, I hope the roses bring you a lot of joy, lovely choices to look forward to. Im partial to a stripey two tone rose myself and have eyed a few of those!  Heres a few of my two tones from last year for you
Probably would be fine without in my case. The soil still felt damp. It's just we've not had actual rain this week, or next forecast. So with the warm weather I thought it best to top up now before I forget!
I feel concerned for the poor aquilegia plants that I moved to the allotment and put in the polytunnel. Intended to plant but hadn't got the area ready yet. They'll be baking in there!
I'll go sort them tomorrow and check on the tadpoles.
Quite dry here again, but sunny and warm for time of year... I had to hose a few newly planted perennials today.. 'Golden Memories',.. nicely shaped, a floriferous yellow rose, long season.. fairly new to me..
.. 'Armada' obelisk left.. I've pinched out the clematis tips.. 'Mutabilis' centre, coloured foliage..  the sun is getting stronger..
I already watered most of the pots 2 days ago - at least the smaller ones. They felt relatively dry. Maybe it's the peat-free compost I used last year. I did a lot in the last three days but there is still so much to do... mulching, feeding, topping up compost in pots, a little bit of planting, sowing seeds... it goes on. At least it's enjoyable in this lovely weather. It still feels like at least 2 weeks are needed for the garden to properly wake up and get greener.Â
I’d forgotten what the sun looks like until I got a brief glimpse yesterday. The constant rain is finally abating and I managed to spend nearly a whole day in the garden without getting wet. It’s also getting a few degrees warmer, got to the giddy heights of 13c today 🥵Â
Some of my Austins are looking chlorotic already, which since they haven’t had to put up with my hard water is a bit odd. They have been mulched and fed but look as if they need more. Certainly an iron feed. All that rain forcing too fast growth? Waterlogging? Not sure, never experienced this combination of cold and flooding before. Climate change in action!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.

@edhelka, the MPC now a days dries up so quickly and then just becomes a fluff.
