Wonder if my Perennial Blue standard might end up having a bit of a spiky Mohican, then, or even an Afro haircut! (Perhaps it's not such a bad thing if it's not so lax- some of it will be safe from canine attentions.) And if we want one that's properly weeping, we can go for wichurana types. That's brilliant information, Marlorena. Thank you.

..that's ok..  @peteS  yes,.. much to the annoyance of many of us..  I'm sometimes of the mind not to buy another modern rose if none of the breeding info. is declared..  I should say..  just a few clues would be nice..

@Desi_in_London ooo you’ve just reminded me that I need to get some vine weevil nematodes!

Interesting, thanks @peteS and congrats on bringing your GT impressively back from the dead! It’s one of those Austins that was sold as either a shrub or climber but both were exactly the same rose. It clearly takes a while to exhibit it’s climbing tendencies so I will just have to be patient.

My Ghislaine de Feligonde standard has fairly floppy canes all over so far - it had multiple thin-caned grafts rather than the usual three. Early days yet though..
