Sounds like the typical storms we get here @Marlorena, hope you didn’t suffer too much damage.
On the subject of Munstead Wood, if you recall I took note of Chicago lady’s advice that it likes alkaline minerals/water. Well it hasn’t worked too well here, my own-root cutting is going rather chlorotic watering with hard tap water. My alkalinity (and conditions in general of course) are clearly very different to hers!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@nollie, yes it is not liking alkaline water/soil. Your own root munstead wood is a better shaped shrub than grafted ones. I am going to try rooting again some mw cuttings.
@purplerallim, that is a very beautiful red rose. perfect shape and colour.
Over last two days it has rained well after such a long time here. Garden got a good soaking.
Marlorena, that's totally lovely. I thought you were lucky enough to have park-like iron railings surrounding your property but now I see the lovely effect of the roses pushing through wrought iron can be achieved with beautiful metal trellises (are they connected or standalone?). Very, very inspiring and something to think about copying
A fuchsia that my dog munched to ground level has just miraculously reemerged (how tough must they be?) so I am hoping a cute HT rose she did the same to might reappear, but so far nada.😁
All that growth on my own-root MW (my first cutting) is on the original little spindly cutting so it’s done well, but will be better after an iron tonic!
This is Cramoisi Superieur [China] in year 2, forming a neat little shrub. It’s impossible to photograph in any detail as the bright colour causes camera glare:

At what point do I have to think about starting to tie in the canes that I want to spiral around the structure? Is it time enough to later in the year or am I better starting as I mean to go on?
@pitter-patter ..thanks so much @WhereAreMySecateurs .. thank you.. they are stand alone structures which I joined together, I have lots of them. I don't want any more wood in the garden as I can't manage the maintenance. I do have railings too which just push into the ground.. these you may have seen in photos. I'm growing 'Kathleen Harrop' on one section as it's thornless, and next to a path.
..I hope your rose recovers, naughty but lovely doggie I'm sure..
@Nollie ..I know, we can't always go by the experience of others especially in distant parts.. and I admit to getting lost with a lot of that type of information.. Mine are doing ok though, and they've had some tap water, but still look green..
@ciaranmcgrenera .. I don't grow 'SH' so hopefully someone can answer your question, I think a few here have that rose..
.. credit where it's due, to Trevor White today, once again. They sent me the wrong rose last winter. I ordered 'La France' and got 'Angela', which apparently grows next to it in their growing fields.. It's just a mistake, it happens and I didn't want anything back, but they immediately despatched 'La France' to me, and it arrived today. This withered bloom I cut off, but shows it's true and deliciously scented.

That own-root MW is impressive!
