A lot of Monty doing stuff tonight, which is good I suppose. Particularly enjoyed the Helenium national collection guy. Could have done without the really cringe-making visit to the three sisters' garden. Struggling to see why that is worthy of air time.

Surely it is good to be encouraging people with different abilities to garden?
How can you lie there and think of England

What exactly did you find 'cringe-making' @VictorMeldrew

I would have liked to have seen more of the Helenium collection, according to the Plant Heritage website he has 92 varieties. I know it would have been impossible (and boring) to show every one but l was getting frustrated by seeing so few actual Heleniums. Must get another Sahin's Early Flower at some point.
I felt a real connection with Monty this week when he was talking about the heat and the effect on his garden. I also enjoyed the new build garden with Charlotte (?). Her enthusiasm was lovely.

I used to teach Downs children and thought Kirsty's enthusiasm and knowledge was impressive. They are more at ease with the cameras than in the earlier programmes, which makes watching more pleasureable for us too. I think Big Sis deserves a medal for what she is doing :)

In one of the viewer's gardens the women mentioned a particular method of gardening she uses, I think she said she piled up all the twigs and other garden debris and planted into it. Does anyone recall what she called it? I was semi dozing off at the time so I could be wrong.

@AnniD @steephill Thank you for the links, it looks really interesting, I will definitely be looking into it.
  • While watching it on iPlayer, I said that I should write to the BBC asking to make a series with Advolly about garden history. That would be money well spent, imo. Why should she have to wait until channel 5 knocks on her door.

    I my garden.
