    Good morning all later arrivals.

    LB, I'm glad that you are not too achy. Take a rest today.

    Debs, have a nice time with sister and later in the garden.

    Chive, enjoy cooking for the family. Something delicious must be on the menu.

    I'm off to the cottage. I'll not planted onions today, just prepare field for them. To plant 20 kg of onion sets I'll need one whole day to do it properly.
    Have a nice day and see you later.

    Morning all.

    Sunny again here, there was a light frost earlier. More gardening, I need to get it all up to date before going back to OH. He had a copy of a letter to his surgeon yesterday to say that the respiratory consultant thinks his hip replacement should go ahead. I hope it's soon.

    Since there is a subject we can't mention here, I thought LB might enjoy this poem.

    Dust If You Must – The Poem

    Dust if you must, but wouldn’t it be better
    To paint a picture, or write a letter,
    Bake a cake, or plant a seed;
    Ponder the difference between want and need?

    Dust if you must, but there’s not much time,
    With rivers to swim, and mountains to climb;
    Music to hear, and books to read;
    Friends to cherish, and life to lead.

    Dust if you must, but the world’s out there
    With the sun in your eyes, and the wind in your hair;
    A flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
    This day will not come around again.

    Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
    Old age will come and it’s not kind.
    And when you go (and go you must)
    You, yourself, will make more dust.

    I have just made a brew after coming in from watering all my seedlings in the GH and the poppies in my garden. Good news is that they seem to be settling in just fine. Phone rang - handy brother - his landline is now completely connected and he doesn't feel so isolated. Has anyone else got someone in the family like my handy brother who refuses to have a mobile phone or any type of I.T. equipment? He does my head in. Quite happy to ask me to look things up for him on t'internet! I've told him he is a dinosaur!
    Biglad, its probably because he is an Everton supporter!
    Busy, I love, love, love that poem! It made me smile. Thank you! Great news BTW about your OH and his long waited for operation. It seems to be getting quite near now. Its been such a long time of delays and cancellations. Everything crossed here for him.

    Afternoon all,  Great poem BL.  Popped to Ashwoods this morning and a pot of anemone blanda and a veronica popped into my basket along with a couple of packets of seeds.  Sat in the sunshine and enjoyed a cuppa with Bestie and then came home to do a bit of gardening.  Spread 4 bags of manure and now I'm aching fro head to foot.  Still have about 7 bags left but I'll need a bit of a break before I do anymore.

  • Busy I love the poem, hope oh gets an app soon.  Lily I think we might have had snow last March.  Don’t overdo it in the garden everyone.  Ante you have quite a day ahead of you for the potatoes.  I hope you have some help.  Hazel it sounds like you’ve had lots of fun on granny duties, how lovely.  Debs I hope you enjoyed your walk with your sister. LB I hope you are well rested.        I’ve made some whole meal bread and that’s cooling in the kitchen and I’ve visited the family and caught up on some jobs.

    Yvie, I just knew that you wouldn't be able to resist! What a lovely time you must have had with your Bestie. I need to mulch tomorrow - top of the 'to do' list. I scrubbed all 3 of the bird baths today - what a stinky job that was! They have been used quite vigorously since. I forgot to say that the roe deer was in the field yesterday, at the bottom of the garden. I do not know where they will go if they proceed in developing on this land. He was on his own which is quite sad. I've also seen the 3 mallard ducks flying about. I'm assuming they are the same three who have been here for the last 2 years.
    RosieBB, it will be smelling delicious in your kitchen again.
    I am signing out for tonight. I'm off to alter all the clocks that need it now. See you all tomorrow.

    Evening all,

    Got outside for a bit this afternoon but didn't get much done other than finishing off the (awkward to get at) back of the shed. Nice and warm when the sun was out. It will be a shock to the system for us and our gardens if we do get snow. Not wishing to be a doom-monger but this was how my shed roof looked on 11th April last year :o

  • Very warm in the sunshine today.  Biglad I hope it doesn’t snow we’ve only just had some warm weather, although I remember last year when it was quite deep here.  Getting to the back of the shed can be tricky.  LB sad, as you say, to think of the roe deer alone.   I wish they wouldnt develop so much land and would leave more for nature.  Goodnight everyone.  Lily I hope you don’t snooze on the sofa and Hazel I hope you sleep.
