Morning all. Landscaper is coming this morning to measure up for replacing the fence damaged in the storms 2 weeks ago. He's very busy just now and I have lots of treasures emerging in the border so I'm going to suggest that he check our emergency bracing posts will hold and that we delay the work until October. Should work better for both of us but I'll see what he says.

BL - great news that your OH is well enough to have the operation. Fingers crossed he's now towards the top of the waiting list. Safe journey and I hope there are no issues waiting for you at home in France.

LB - words are not enough... I assume you've cancelled the DD with your bank for the previous energy suppler? Hopefully, your bank will sort out the wrong payments issue for you.

What can I say about the BG website? When everything's tickety-boo (Ante = working well) and you just want to do a straightforward thing like a meter reading it's fine. As soon as there's a problem with your account you just enter into an infinite loop and it's impossible to get anywhere with it - even to do the straightforward stuff.

You're an early riser and I would suggest ringing BG as soon as their phone lines open. You're less likely to be in a long queue then. Give them the info they need but make sure you get the name(s) of the people you speak to.

God help you if you get the surly cow in South Africa I had to deal with😬. To be fair she did get the ball rolling to get things sorted out - but it wasn't a nice experience. Really didn't want to give me her name when I asked her to spell it because (her words) she didn't want any complaints being directed at her....

Are you still taking regular photos of your meter to back up what your usage is? Definitely worth having that evidence until everything is properly sorted.

    Morning all.

    Thank you about OH.

I'm at the airport. Ryanair sent an email to ask passengers to be 3 hours early because of huge queues at Security, but I've never seen such a small queue! There are notices asking people to wear masks but hardly anyone is wearing one.

Hello all ... have a good trip @Busy-Lizzie.

I wish this bitter wind would drop ... I've got things to do outside but it's sooo cold.  Niece is in Norfolk visiting friends ... she says it sees much warmer here than in Hampshire ... I think there's something wrong with her body thermostat Brrrr!

Hello @Chivetalking and a big wave to everyone! Sorry for a bit of an absence but yes, the cellar is finished... and everything is now reasonably tidy. OH wants to put up some extra shelving and then we're done down there. A bit of a break then a start on the utility room, hopefully.
@Busy-Lizzie I'm pleased things are pushing ahead again, but sorry about  the wait. Fingers crossed for an early appointment.
I went outside for about twenty minutes, @Dovefromabove in the sunshine; neither the sun nor I lasted longer than that! I agree the wind is quite chilly.
  • Lily enjoy your nephews visit today.  Busy good news for oh, as others have said,   I hope it won’t be too long.

Ante I hope your weather is warming up now.  It is sunny here and Alfie is snoozing by the window.

I visited the relies today, had lunch and then back for a relaxing soak, aah.  I’ll cook some fish later in the air cooker my first use.

Debs enjoy a busy day with your fiancé.

LB I bought a dress the other day from jewels, very girly, arrived earlier this week, didn’t need pressing.

Hazel I hope oh is feeling more comfortable after his dental appointment now.

Chive I popped to the sm to look for an Acer and had a look at quite a selection of others.  I have some daffodils but would like a few more.

Landscaper has suggested that we repair rather than replace the fence. Apart from 3 broken posts (and the fact that we know other posts will be weakened) the fence is actually in a pretty good state considering it's 11 years old (the posts are 25 years old!) His plan is to effectively brace the length of the fence. As it's all at the back of a border it will still look ok.

Certainly a LOT cheaper than replacing the whole thing and will probably extend the life of the fence for between 5 and 10 years.

LB - thinking again about trying to give BG a meter reading: have you got the BG App on your phone or tablet? It's an alternative way to access your account other than going through the website and is actually easier for meter readings. However, it sounds as though you may also be having issues actually registering for an account - in which case that won't help - sorry.

Half time and England are making heavy weather of the rugby. T'Bird, thank you so much  for all of your helpful suggestions - all of which have been tried but I am going to go into my Bank to talk to someone about the DD. I did finally speak to an operative called Farida but I had to book a return call as they were receiving a huge volume of calls. Hmmmm, I wonder why. She took note of my meter readings and said that she would set up an account for me. I wonder how long tht will take to be instigated. Ofgem told me not to cancel my DD but this has gone on for too long. The irony is that no payments have been made to BG. I am wary about cancelling as I do not want to suddenly find I am without gas and electricity. Its a real mess but hopefully it will be sorted soon. I bet that Together Energy is a sub division of BG!
By the way T'Bird, that is really good news about your fence and that landscaper sounds like a good one. You definitely don't want your treasures to be crushed during the mending of the fence.
Hazel, I, too, hope that your arm is not too stiff today. I have a Nelly Moser clematis. If your's has buds then I would not worry about it. Mine is at the budding stage too. I did a lot more pricking out of seedlings today before the rugby started.
Good to see you Janet, pleased to hear that the decorating is moving on apace.
RosieBB, I haven't worn a dress for over 5 years - nearly as long ago as I wielded that hot metal thing. Yours sounds very nice though. Did you manage to find an Acer?

Evening everyone,  had a lovely day chatting and catching up with Nephew. So lovely to see him and he spoilt me with a big bunch of flowers.
@Busy-Lizzie hope you have arrived home and had a good journey.
@Songbird-1 hope your arm isn't too sore after yesterday's vaccine. The ruler for planting is a good idea.
@Ladybird4 do hope you get everything sorted soon, it's gone on for a long time now. Hope you can sort out the DD. OH is watching the rugby too 😏
@Topbird glad you can get the fence repaired rather than the huge expense of replacing it.
@janetfoss did you find a Pilates class on YouTube? Or a DVD?
@Pauline 7  if you're looking in.....how does your OH feel about his football team 😱🤦‍♀️
Sorry mind has gone blank, hope you've all had a good day.
