P'd off with Dobbies. I had a birthday card from them offering 2 hot drinks and and 2 cakes or scones free. The only exclusion was clotted cream. I ordered 2 coffees and 2 toasted teacakes, only to be told teacakes weren't part of the offer. I said there was nothing in the card excluding them, and was met with a shrug. I said I'll just have 2 coffees. "Can't do that. The offer is for hot drinks and cake". WTF!!! I had my card back. I should have asked what the most expensive cake was, had 2 of them and left them on the table.
I've just been watching a clip of a guy in America stopping people in the street and asking them pretty basic questions. Most of the older people got them right and, worryingly, all the younger ones shown got them wrong. A couple of examples "How many States make up the USA?" Answer - 6. 'How many days in a year?' - 1000. 'How many seasons in a year?' 12. What I really like is he always asks if they are sure after their answer, and he always tells them they are right
Really a mix of curmudgeon and RTBC (for the laughs).

Should've told them you can't have cake for medical/ethical/whatever reasons and what can they offer that's inclusive of your needs.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
I can sympathise with that, @KT53. I had some Boots vouchers in the post, one of which offered 50% off ‘age defying serum’ ( I’m in dire need of that!) Tried to redeem it against some eye serum I’d run out of, but was told by a rather grumpy supervisor that it only applied to faces, not eyes. Never mind, there were labels on the shelf offering buy one, second one half price, on skincare, make up and something else. Tried to buy the eye serum plus another item, but same grumpy person said no, only offer including the eye cream was three for two. I pointed out the other sign, and was told that the skincare offer was only on men’s skin care. Didn’t say that on the poster! I came out without buying anything, and will write and complain to Boots. It’s very tiresome when things are so confusing.
Unbelievable, they have just realised that controlling AI will require global cooperation between governments. I bet AI told them that. Sneaky little thing AI.
