I think the internet will become more and more like this as AI takes hold.  It's about money, not people.  It may have originally been designed to connect, but the purpose now is profit.  No room for emotion and human angst, unless it can be manipulated to turn a buck.

If you look up the biographical details and interests of the owner of immediate media, you might get a clue to his reasons.

I bought a couple of BBC Wildlife magazines this year after having a break from them for a while. I've noticed that the adverts are increasing and they've trimmed all the fat such as competition prizes. These billionaires really like to squeeze the profits out of everything. :|

I had signed up to that Insiders thing. I had an email yesterday to give my opinions. Guess how long you have to reply? It closes at midnight on the 19th March.

I deliberately answered 'never' to everything, although it did pretty much apply to the questions because I don't read any of the publications or watch the programmes!

    Try never to co-operate with a billionaire's plan, that's my motto! 😉

I never buy magazines apart from the Sainsbury's one. You pay £££s for a load of glossy adverts for things you wouldn't dream of buying, interspersed with a few articles you might or might not be interested in.

Does anyone know if the ghost of Christmas future has any availability?

I think we should start a seperate thread for A'hole of the Year.  If we do, here's my nomination.
The sister of a friend, aged about 80, has just been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour and given just a few weeks to live.  Far from being supportive, her husband is moaning about people going round to see her and him having to answer the door all the time.  We don't know him at all well, but everybody who does has had a very low opinion of him for a long time.  Apparently even his son has said he'll have no reason to visit once his mother dies.  Says it all really.  How can anybody treat another person the way he is treating his wife??

His attempts to get the "A*hole of the Year" have now reached a totally new level.  His wife needs hospice care but he is refusing to pay for it, or to sign the paperwork which would permit costs to be recovered from the estate when he dies.  Apparently he doesn't want his son's inheritance affected!  There are 2 sons, one living locally who apparently supports his fathers view and one living several hundred miles away.  The one living away is the one who has said he won't visit after his mother dies.  The costs are now being shared by other members of her family.

A real charmer by the sound of it @KT53:|

I'm glad I'm single and only have a small family, that I know won't mess about like that.
