I understand it can be difficult taking blood from a child, but if one was taken to hospital seriously ill would they say you have to wait 4 weeks before we can take blood?  Of course not.

If there are limited numbers of people with the necessary training, that's probably why routine appointments are hard to get.  The seriously ill ones in hospital will get priority. Trouble is, the one waiting for an appointment might be getting more ill and missing out on treatment while waiting for the tests.

A brewery in Norfolk has had to change the name of one of its beers because it has had complaints that the name was 'a bit racist'.  The beer was called white face.  All of their beers use one of the names for a hare, and come from a 13th century poem!
The brewery was worried about losing customers if they were accused of racism.  The world has gone ******* mad.

Where my sister lives @KT53 , there's a very well known, and long established pub [centuries]  called The Black Bitch. Yes - there were complaints a couple of years ago. People with nothing better to do with their time. As you might guess, it's about a dog. An ancient legend about a black greyhound who fed it's starving master.

The world has gone effing mad - I totally agree with you. Frankly, I'm sick to death of it all. I'm glad I'm not young either. I couldn't stand another 50 or 60 years of that utter nonsense.
PS - the pub name was changed....

  • Did you know, @Allotment Boy , The island's name derives from Manannán, a Celtic sea god ?  I didn't :)

I'm still pssd off by having to call a blackboard a chalk board. It was black and it was a board. It wasn't chalk. Then we had interactive white boards. Should I have been offended?

Totally agree with that too @B3 - something I was always saying to my daughters.
It's as stupid as that nonsense with the Roald Dahl books - they wanted to change the word 'fat' in one of them...to 'enormous'. Oh yeh - 'cos that's so much better isn't it!
    Gawd help us.

I had some nice stuff from that company a long time ago @Lyn :)
