I still have a "situation " with my energy Co. I had an email in December saying contact this named person to follow up. I tried calling the number on Tuesday. I got an answering machine saying this office only open Mon, Weds Friday from 1pm to 6pm. No wonder they can't keep up with queries and complaints.
I was behind a guy in our local shop who was topping up the 'key' for his pre-payment meter. He was saying that he'd put £20 on the previous day and it had almost run out. Lady behind the till said her smart meter indicated her gas and electric the previous week had cost her nearly £90. God knows how people on low fixed incomes are coping.
I regularly view a well known forum for travel advice and never cease to be amazed at the lack of knowledge exhibited by our friends across the pond. I know Americans have a reputation for being insular but something I read today really takes it to a new level. This is part of the question they asked.......
" I don’t know Scotland
I have never been there, I don’t know how long it takes to see
everything or if we will even be able to see everything in five nights
six days. So I just thought it would be nice to fly over there, get a car, (I have read the car rental forums) and wing it."
I hope the enquiry is intended to be a windup but I'm not convinced having read some other posts from the same person.
Five minutes to take a photo of Edinburgh castle. Ditto Loch Ness. No need to visit Glasgow. Nothing to see north of Balmoral ( stop by for coffee and a selfie)
Done. Three days max.
You missed the day for selfies on Skye
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
When working in HR as it's now called, I got a job application from an Australian who was convinced that he could easily commute from France to London. Well it's only about 100miles isn't it?
People do @B3 - or did before Brexit. Eurostar from Lille or Calais can be as quick as some home county commutes to London and house prices are much cheaper so it's affordable.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Maybe they still had the hovercraft crossing then @B3? Or they planned on having a decent breakfast on the 90 minute ferry crossing and no traffic on the M2 or M20?

That's alarming @pansyface I thought disabled people were entitled to more help re their energy costs ? And not just the cost of a tin of Kitty Cat either. On a less serious note, according to the science, she would actually retain more heat if Toby could be persuaded to lounge on her head tho.

There was a huge hooha because the buyer was furious that the seller refused to send the motorbike to him ‘by road’.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
