The main reason for keeping a car washed here in winter would be because of the salt from roads being gritted. Not good for the paintwork.  :/
Birds crap doesn't have quite the same impact, unless you were leaving it under a tree, that was a popular roosting/landing spot, for a long time, but even then, it's nothing compared to the amount of stuff that comes off the roads.

I am curious, @Nanny Beachwhy do you keep bags of dog excrement behind your seats?

@debs64 - the guilty party was the owner of a car serviced by Mr Beach. Or are you asking rhetorically?

Deb's,WE DON'T,! I was talking about the state of customers cars,he had to service this one at work.  Assumed they couldn't be arsed to find a bin. My neighbour comes home from his extremely short 'walk" and puts the bags in the front garden!Bird crap ruins the paintwork. You can't see the mechanical aspects of a car from the outside. We've been with Direct line donkeys years, they have always requested pictures to show the condition of the vehicle prior to the claim. Most policies say, vehicle must be maintained in good condition. I clean the windows in the car regularly,it rains, they get dirty. Apart from the house, surely it's your most expensive purchase. We've only had one new car in 33 years,it's now 6 years old,and kept in good condition. I wouldn't buy a filthy car,it would say to me that the owner didn't care hadn't been looked after.

At least they aren't chucking their sh*t bags anywhere and everywhere like they do round here. If they bother to lift it at all.
I saw one the other day that made me beyond furious. Farm road [as we call it] there's a field to the right, but it's down a slope of several feet from the road. Trees, hedging etc. Someone had gone to the lengths of going down the slope, and tying it round a branch. You could see the way it had been tied - it hadn't been thrown in. Who does that?
There's a stretch of footpath round the corner with at least 20 bags [at the last count] chucked into the hedge that separates it from the road. They're all in a section that's hidden by a tall hedge, so no one from the next house can see them doing it. It all stops as soon as the hedge ends, and the footpath continues another thirty feet where it joins the road. That part is overlooked.
I've reported it to the  council, but it's now become very difficult to do it. I wonder if they simply can't cope with the relentless mess.

Yes,Mr Beach often came home 'mentioning' ,in Sarf, London speak the state of customers cars, and what he's laying on,on the floor
Our cars have always been kept neat and tidy, inside and out, long before I met and married him. BenCotto,as Deb's said "why do you", and not "why would you,"I assumed it wasn't rhetorical.

Just catching up on here, so sorry to go back , but another moan about W'rose here. My wife has a smart phone but doesn't want to be fiddling about with all those Apps.  She was told you can print out the vouchers, for yourself,  but means it's costing you in paper and we all know about the rip off cost of inkjet, cartridges. So you will have to factor those costs in to any potential savings.
There are "waterless" car cleaning products,  you spray and it "lifts " the dirt off and then you can buff up after, but you need use microfibre cloths. So it's a  bl**dy expensive way of cleaning your car. I do clean ours occasionally, with water,   but we can get it done while we do the SM shop for a very reasonable price, so that plus the service clean we've all mentioned,  means it probably gets done about once every 3-4 months, in normal times, but like others we are not going anywhere as much as before.

A woman told me once that she always picks up and throws the poo bag in the hedge "Cos with biodegradable [she could have said degradable] bags, it's the greenest way" - can't even begin to fathom that thinking.

I should imagine the greenest way to get rid of dog poo is to take it home and bury it in a designated spot. I've also seen people flicking it into canals :#

Can't fault my dog, 9 times out of 10 he 'goes' a couple feet from the 'doggie bin' at the end of our walk.
Trying to be the person my dog thinks I am!

There's one of those around here. I'd hate to see what their Christmas tree looks like. I was thinking the other day we need to update some popular phrases. "Can't see the wood for the trees" could be "Can't throw a bag of shit into the woods without hitting the trees".

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
