B3,so sorry, bless you both. My oldest daughter went to to best friends brothers wedding last week, his wife 35has leukemia,5 weeks of grueling chemo coming up,she's got a little boy of 5,her dad died last year,AND her mum has cancer! So sad.
How dreadful, B3. Take it easy, it’s probably given you both more of a shock than you realise. A sobering reminder of what can go wrong. Nanny Beach, hope the poor girl responds well to the treatment.
The worst thing was trying to get to speak to a human at the bank to sort out the fraudulent withdrawals. Once I got through to a person , it wasn't so bad but that took a lot of effort and patience. Stopping the card took ages too. All the time I was negotiating the hurdles, they were using the card - apparently we bought a tractor. Transactions continued even after the card was blocked. We have now got a direct number to call as soon as our account has been reloaded.
PS Thank you all for your good wishes. It really means a lot.
B3,I had a similar thing years ago with the TSB, there was money coming out of my account, unauthorized, every month, unable to find out who from, rang bank, told them NOT to make any more payments to this place. They told me I must have set up a direct debit and "forgot", but it was a debit card payment, It carried on, went into the branch, assistant manager who was an Ah and looked about 10,cut up my debit card,AND the money carried on being paid out.
@B3 Tanqueray is great! - I have some in the bar cupboard for Negroni. Bombay Blue Sapphire there if you like that one two. We could alternate!! We'd have to have at least 3. One to go down. One to taste and one to appreciate!! mmm sigh!
I hope you and hubby are both OK today @B3 and all monies will be recovered. It's a shocking thing to happen and takes a while for a brain to process.
Used to drink gin and tonic with a curry when in a restaurant in the UK - goes remarkably well - but at home I drinkeither rosé or water with a curry so these days any gin we have tends to be used for making fruity drinks - damson, blackcurrants and so on. They end up sitting around a few years by which time they have matured very nicely.

I drank gin before having my daughter now 52, to this very day, the smell of it makes me feel sick!!! To cap it,my weekly drinking buddy has gone over to gin as has this daughter.mind you,I don't like any spirits, just a dray whait,, wain please,or a vintage cider with my ploughman's!
My daughter had her card stolen. They emptied her account by withdrawing the money in £50.00 lots before and after midnight so they covered 2 days and got the maximum they could. She was a student at the time and heart broken of course.
