Might be putting this in the wrong place (seems to be my speciality) - but a headline on msn homepage caught me:

New study suggests ancient megalodon could eat whole wales in a few bites

They just get worse, don't they?  (and Wales is a lovely place - really like it there, especially Anglesey!)

how many double decker buses, Nelson's column and football pitches is that?

Well that explains the shape of Cardigan Bay.

In a world where people are being asked to cut back on electricity consumption, how will the electicity infrastructure cope with millions of cars plugged in to recharge?  Assuming (wrongly) that all 32 million cars currently on UK roads would be electric by 2035, and they are only recharged once a week on average, that's over 4 million cars being charged each day.

I don't see why the roof, boot and bonnet panels of all vehicles shouldn't be fitted with printable PV panels and sooner rather than later.

That certainly looks like a step in the right direction @Kili, especially the easy maintenance.   Not a bad price either.

This is where smart charging should help. People charge their car during the day using solar panels, possibly at the office if they commute, then when they come home the car should still have over half charge in the batteries. The grid will then use the car batteries to buffer peak demand which occurs for a few hours after work and top them back up in the early hours of the morning when demand is low. The grid is basically then using millions of cars for green energy storage. You should be able to set your smart charger to make sure you always have a set amount of charge available for emergencies or whatever. People working from home with an electric car and solar panels should be able to extend their income from the electricity they generate, and in a perfect world people working from offices will benefit from free electricity during the day which they sell back to the grid at night.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

If THEY gave us a decent feed in tarriff, similar to the cost THEY charge us, maybe more folk would have solar panels.

    Yeah I love that.

"Great does that mean we get more for the energy our solar panels produce?"
    "No."

Electric cars might be the way forward but I can't hear them. Wear a hearing aid. We have a tall native hedge on left hand side which we would probably not get permission to remove so it's a 'blind' exit.   Crept out of our drive this morning very cautiously as our lane narrows to one car's width. Had both windows open so I could listen for vehicles but didn't hear the electric one I nearly collided with.  We do have an (iilegal) road mirror angled for the other blind bend on our right which is useful. Might have to think about a double sided mirror soon but doubt we'd get permission for that either.
