  • I've got my mum a climbing rose this year. It should flower and smell nice when she's out in the garden in summer but consider getting a plant that will flower around the time of her birthday (or your birthday if you want her to remember you).
If you go for a outside plant then a low maintenance plant like a rose is good and you can perhaps do any pruning, feeding etc it needs when you visit. Even most non gardeners don't mind a little bit of watering.
  • I often get a bag of compost for Mothers day .No one dare buy me plants in case they get it wrong ! Bless them.

I got mine a big pot, some compost, and then took her to a GC and asked her what colours she liked.

I got her a variety of Herby Ps to keep it all in flower til Autumn and told her not to forget to water it. Houseplant was vetoed due to her cats eating all indoor vegetation 😂

Mine always know what to get me. Vouchers from the local GC to get compost. I rarely buy plants there. Far too expensive.
Maybe a calendar @MarcusColemanlnGN. Then you wouldn't forget when Mothers Day is.   :)

He's probably in the USA @Fairygirl ... it's different there ...  I expect he's going to try to sell us something ...

I wondered about that, but due to the nature of the post,  I'm thinking what @Dovefromabove's thinking  ;)

The post was nonsense ... for mother’s day buy your mother a gift that benefits the child i.e. you. Actually, I think I might adopt this approach at Christmas. “It’s because you live in a flat without a garden that I bought you secateurs. It is to give you pleasure when you give them to me.”
