  • I wonder if we will move on from the marbled leaved Rodney Davey varieties. John Massey also grows hybrid varieties that have not only been more floriferous in my garden but also come in far more colours. They are expensive but worth the price. I agree his garden is amazing and food is good too!

  • They are stunning. This is the best way to display them. I am sure they nod their heads to cope with the worst of the weather. Many years ago a friend tried to breed one with flowers that turned up a little, so that you could see them better. He had some success but I think they are happy as they are .Beautiful

Which do you have? Do you have any links to share?

I find the Anna's red and the Corsican hellebores gaze pretty outward and don't nod. I am not into nodding.

They are gorgeous fidgetbones. Can you tell me what the 2 that I've circled, please?

  • My favourite is a single white picotee with a maroon edge. Purchased at Ashwood Nurseries 10 years ago for £25.00. It is still beautiful, I have noticed a seedling this year it has a flower not sure of the colour yet but it will be pale I think .These plants all nod to some degree. I am not computer minded but if you go back a page to @fidgetbones you will find a link.

Those two are seedlings from my Ashwood hybrids.  I think the parent was a neon red backed.  I gave it pollen from a double.  It ended up with lots of dark red  semi petals and a dark red back.  Three years from seed to flower.
