Glenda’s Gloss, not as well photographed as Papi Jo’s.
I beg to disagree, @pitter-patter Your photo renders perfectly justice to your lovely Glenda's Gloss.
  • What lovely pics, everyone. I'm positively drooling at such gorgeous Hellebores!
I bought a little green/white flowering one today, with the intention of putting it in a large pot with one or two Spring bulbs to brighten up my patio.
I'd like to ask a question here, if I may. What is the best soil/compost to use in this pot? I do intend to plant out the Hellebore at a later date, if that helps. Thank you.

If it's only going to be in a pot for a matter of weeks, multipurpose compost will be fine.  I recently did what you are planning to do and used a mix of 3 compost/1 grit as I'm going to plant in the ground after flowering.  You could add some soil based compost like John Innes no 3 but I don't think that's necessary unless you are going to leave your plant in the pot for more than six weeks.  Hope this helps!

Yes - it won't matter what it's in if it's only for a short while @janetfoss
Long term potted, it would need a more substantial medium - a soil/loam based product, or just some soil from your garden if you have any to spare.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Thank you @Plantminded and @Fairygirl You have been a real help.

I'm thinking about getting a couple for my sister's garden as she wants some winter interest. How much would you expect to be paying for examples like these?

I'll look at some more online prices but just wondering if the prices at my local GC are reasonable.
