I think there’s a happy mix of well informed experienced gardeners (always useful) and those like me, completely amateur learning on the job. There’s a great sense of humour which is great. I used to like googling answers to my queries (and still do from time to time) but it is nice to have personable, friendly advice offered. Keep up the good work everyone! ☺️🌸🌼🌻
Mostly a lurker but take a look most days. I don't even look at the non gardening or general chat threads but try and contribute in the (few) areas I have some knowledge in.
I do like to scan the what is this questions, doubt I will ever answer one though unless it's a forest tree, and a good photo.

All the positive, complementary posts by new readers and old here are richly deserved. You should all be proud of the GW forum, not forgetting the team behind the scenes who work very hard to keep it a safe, friendly and smooth running forum. Yes there are glitches, but that's technology for you. I hope those coming in for the first time will be happy to do so again. Maybe even those who no longer do so feel able one day to pop back and say hello. Thank you everyone too for making me feel so welcome- as @Hostafan1 said, the water really is lovely! My best wishes, Janet.
The thing to remember is, we're ALL learning from each other. None of us knows everything. Some are great at veg, some specialise in alpines, or seed growing, or whatever it might be. Every day is a school day.
I was a lurker for a long time before I gathered courage to start a thread asking for advice. The kind replies gave me confidence to continue (: There is so much knowledge and generosity here...
Also, I felt the urge to pay it forward, so even though I have not been gardening for very long at all, I've tried to reply to questions/requests for advice when I feel reasonably sure about the answer.
This forum has definitely inspired my garden choices, particularly the Rose thread
While I have never been very excited about roses (they seemed to need a lot of care), seeing the beautiful photos on the rose thread convinced me that I should put in a climbing rose in my new (and first) garden. The two bare roots went in a month ago, and I was amazed today to find green shoots poking above the soil (:

Although many people feel they don't know MUCH, the pooled knowledge is enormous. One might be brilliant at striking cuttings, another at insulating a greenhouse, another starting a garden pond. Every one of us has ideas and opinions worth airing, so I'd encourage everyone to join in and take part in some way.
