Hi. I consider myself a "lurker": I check the forum daily for new posts.
I have learnt a lot, and not only about gardening. I've particularly found the covid thread (mostly) helpful. The wordle wanderings has kick- started a new interest (obsession?) and I am working my way through the archive.
If I have a gardening query or problem I usually find that it has already been asked and answered somewhere here.
I really enjoy and appreciate this forum and am grateful to those who contribute to it.
A definite lurker, and introverted extrovert! I’ve posted a few times over the years, but like dipping in and seeing peoples ideas and conundrums, and the solutions that the experienced, and less experienced folk offer. Personal favourite plants are small alpines, hydrangea and a lockdown obsession with aeoniums. Greenhouse is on the list for this year, but no idea where it will go. My nemesis, vine weevil.
I am definitely not a 'lurker', I contribute a lot to certain threads, mostly just friendly chit chat and after around 7 years feel very comfortable (in the main) with that. I am always conscious that comments can easily be misunderstood without facial expression, tone of voice and body language to draw from but familiarity with most of the posters gets around that.
I am however more of a lurker on many of the other threads and am less likely to comment, particularly in areas I am not particularly knowledgeable. I do very much enjoy following and learning, reading everyone's opinions and experiences is a great way of understanding and gaining lots of information.
It hardly ever happens, but I do get excited if someone puts an I.D. up and a) I think I know what it is and b) I name it before anyone else. I get especially excited if it proves to be correct too.

I'm like @D0rdogne_Damsel above, I join in mostly on the chat threads but I lurk read others. When I joined in 2012 I only read the gardening threads and, like DD, got excited when I could answer the identity threads. I've been gardening for nearly 50 years.

Another regular lurker here! I’ve given answers once or twice but don’t feel knowledgeable enough for most things. Enjoy some of the chat threads but don’t think fast enough, or type fast enough, to join in! 😂 Hadn’t thought of it until the recent posts, but I suppose it’s a bit like listening to other peoples conversation! Hope you don’t mind too much! 🤥
😂 I don’t mind @Maddi and I don’t think any of the others do either. 😉
Although it may seem to some as if the forum is a community of friends, it’s very open to newcomers … it’s why every month when I start a new ‘Hello Forkers’ I say the thread is ‘for all’ or ‘everyone’.
When I joined the forum over 12 years ago it was quite different and there were some chat threads where newbies were unwelcome and ignored …. oblivious to this I blundered on and ruffled a few feathers 😬 …. anyway, I’m still here and have made some real friends … some of whom are now a part of my ‘real life’ and some who Ill probably never meet, but are nevertheless important to me.
I think the forum is a much more open and welcoming place nowadays … and certainly the numbers are growing year on year 😊

I have to admit to being a bit of a lurker. I’ve only been gardening since 2015 when I inherited my mother’s garden. It’s small but was in a right old state! This forum has taught me so much over the years, I value every single comment, thought and opinion on here. I have posted several questions in the past and have made the occasional comment but don’t really feel I have the knowledge to answer other’s questions when I know that there are so many more experienced gardeners out there. I love the Garden Gallery thread and avidly read the Rose thread as I’m just starting to admire roses and have now got several in the garden. I used to hate roses with a passion but it’s funny how your tastes change over the years. I work all week but at the weekend I can’t wait to open the iPad and catch up
I read this forum every day as it's a goldmine of information. Posters here remind me what I should be doing and help me plan ahead. I sometimes ask questions but only if I can't find the query in the archive. None of my friends are gardeners, so I value the help and support very much! And I enjoy the other conversations not about gardening.
I'm not exactly a lurker as I do try to answer questions when my own garden experience applies, but I'm not a natural chatter, so read the chat threads without joining in. It helps me feel I know people better and there are many I would call friends, though they might not feel the same way
I've definitely lurked this year though, as January has passed in a covid shaped blur and I am only now beginning to feel I'm on the mend. I am desperate to get out in the garden, there is so much I need to do and I am still so feeble, but I am sure it will help my recovery, provided I don't over do things!
