We need a government that is for the people. Oops. That sounds a bit left wing.
Not at all. "Government of the people, by the people, for the people" is a basic tenet of a democratic society. The problem is that over the past several decades, government leaders of all leanings have modified it to ".....by us, to line our pockets"
Big hugs to you both... wish I had the words... {hugs}
I agree with @fidgetbones, God help those who can't and don't have anyone to fight their corner. Most of us don't have any experience - it's worry-overload.
We're definitely living in a mad world, when someone can be paid infinitely more than front-line staff. Front-line staff such as those brave souls that run towards danger like the NHS staff, police, firemen and soldiers.
Guess it's always been the way though
As for being told truthful news, guess we have to hunt for that ourselves. It can be an eye opener to watch 'Russia Today', or 'France24' to see how our news is being 'filtered' for us.

You are suggesting that 'Russia Today' is a more unbiased source of news than any of the UK news providers??
Nadine Dorries has no proper understanding of her brief. Yesterday she was quoted referring to the BBC as 'state-run television'. The BBC is not and never has been 'state run' or 'state controlled'. The government of the day has no editorial control over its output; hence it's ability to continue to annoy each and every British government of whatever hue.
My Russian ex-DIL has never been able to understand how/why the UK's 'State Broadcaster' can get away with criticising the British government and leading politicians.
That is because it is not 'state-run' .......... we should defend the BBC's independence at all costs.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
The BBC also doesn't pay footballers' salaries, so I'm not sure what that has to do with their employees' salaries.
If people don't want/like the BBC, there's a simple solution, as with many other things. They can ask Novax Djokervic if they're not sure about simple solutions.
The licence fee is a separate matter, but it definitely needs looking at re it's funding.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Just making the comparison of employees' worth.,be they TV presenters, sports folk, pop singers, "influencers" You tube "stars" nurses, bin men, supermarket workers. I could easily live without most of the above, but not all.
