I'm somewhat curmudgeonly after removing my laundry from the washing machine....... and finding my mobile phone was in my trouser pocket.
Will it dry out on the radiator?  :'(

    1. BREAKING

      1. Ex-head of Covid taskforce had lockdown leaving party

just learned of another lockdown leaving party in government.

The former head of the civil service Covid taskforce - the team responsible for drawing up Covid restrictions - says she's sorry for holding a leaving party during lockdown in 2020.

Kate Josephs, now chief executive of Sheffield City Council, has tweeted a statement in which she says she had drinks with colleagues on the evening of 17 December.

The event took place in their office at the Cabinet Office to mark her leaving the civil service.

"I am truly sorry that I did this and for the anger that people will feel as a result," she says.

I'd heard that you should use rice to absorb the water... this is echoed here:

Once upon a long time ago my mobile phone fell out of my jeans back pocket into an (as yet) unused loo … I plunged my hand in … retrieved the phone … and, recalling what knowledgeable son had told me to do in such an unlikely event,  I immediately removed the SIM card, placed the phone in a plastic box full of (Finest) dry basmati rice and left it in the airing cupboard for 3 days … it never worked again.

I got another on Gumtree. 🙄

I can't get my printer to print an email . I'm using Chrome as my browser on a very old desktop - is that why?

I've been teaching my oldest boy a bit about coins and found the £5 coin my Grandpa gave me back in 2002. At the time he told me it would be worth something in the future. 20 years later and they still seem to be selling on Ebay for less than inflation increases :# Face value is still £5 and the inflation calculator says £5 in 2002 was worth £8.32 at the end of last year.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

@Nanny Beach  There were only 2 of us when we got our first, full-sized dishwasher in 1984.  It needs setting off every day.  The only things I don't make from scratch are tinned beans, sweetcorn and occasionally filled pasta.   We do have a variety of Belgian beer glasses with motifs on them that fade if dishwashed but ordinary glass and crystal are fine.  OH gets to wash those by hand as I don't drink beer, tho I do sometimes cook with it.

At the risk of sounding like Chandler in Friends, could these companies get any worse?
