"...bring your own booze" invites to 100 people isn't admitting it then?

    "Hi all,

"After what has been an incredibly busy period we thought it would be nice to make the most of the lovely weather and have some socially distanced drinks in the No10 garden this evening.

"Please join us from 6pm and bring your own booze!"

A drinking culture is endemic in our government. If MPs were breathalysed before sitting in The House, there would be a lot of empty seats and a lot less braying.  Decision-making making by MPs and their assistants seems to be fuelled by alcohol and whatever substance was found in most of the toilets and I'm not talking about💩

Not in Boris's world, apparently. As the saying goes, 'If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is in fact a work event'

The clear difference is that Boris was at the BYOB do, but not at the leaving party, so that one can be blamed on a minion who's already left anyway

Absolutely agree @B3 … and their bar bills are subsidized by the tax payer. 😡

I always thought BYOB stood for being your own bottle. This would have been less embarrassing as they could have claimed to have brought Tizer or cherryade

If the EMail had said BYOB, yep. But it openly said booze.
I think we need to define both 'work event' and 'party' - then measure the activities against the definitions. Looks like someone has beaten me to it with this def of 'work event' https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Work Event

Obelixx,I have a half size dishwasher, tiny open plan kitchen at the end of the living room. It's always properly filled,(very OCD about that) we have beer glasses, shaped like big wine glasses, they have printed patterns. The machine only goes on a quick 30 minutes cycle, apart from a deep clean. Hubby put a bone china mug in there,it cracked. I takes the pattern off the glasses. Oddly enough,my friend told me I don't need a dishwasher because there's only 2 of us. But I cook from scratch,as you know, and bake. When I got the dishwasher,I was working full time nights, with a round trip commute of 100 miles. They also use less water than washing up by hand,it only goes on full. Said friend doesn't do much cooking. I batch and take some to disabled son every 2 weeks.

Or Pfizer or Moderna(de). Vaccination party o:)

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

@steveTu. Don't you just love the way the English language can accommodate such rapid changes?😂

    What else should be added?

    BJ noun (disambiguation)
    Blatant lie

    Example:
    You're telling BJ's again aren't you?

    Do a Gove verb
Hide away til the dust settles on someone else.

    Example:
'Oh, he did a Gove and disappeared until the Party wanted to announce the new PM candidates'

Synonymous with do a Raab, do a Rishi

    Apology noun
    Additional definition:
a regretful acknowledgement of an offence or failure by the people accusing you of something.

    Example:
'I accuse you of selling me a pup'
'I apologise for the fact that you totally misinterpreted the situation and mistook a pup for a pig.'
