It might be frowned upon discussing cyclists in the CC thread but I'll have my say anyway. I daresay most cyclists are sensible and law abiding but as ever it's the few that are a b****y nuisance and they will never be convinced otherwise. True, motorists can be rude, arrogant etc. it takes all sorts.
Crossing a pedestrian crossing, light on green, a cyclist came flying at me going through red. I shouted the lights are red for you. F off came the reply. I understand totally what you say pansyface.
My OH is a cyclist and a car driver and he has many opportunities to be furious at the actions of both and he will say his piece if he sees anyone on the road being a fool, or is disobeying the rules of the road, or is being downright dangerous. Those who swear in response know darn well they are in the wrong. One despairs at the utter selfishness, ignorance or stupidity of some road users. I do always wonder what they are really like in other walks of life.

That's happened to me several times, both in central London and in central Leeds. There are some cyclists (not all, I'm sure, but it seems like a significant number) who seem to think they don't need to stop on red for pedestrian crossings and the pedestrians should just jump out of their way, tough luck if you're blind, deaf or not very nimble. If a motor vehicle driver did that I could at least take down their number plate and report them. Nothing might come of it, but with cyclists there isn't even a chance.
Round here the main menace is adult cyclists on pavements expecting pedestrians to hear them coming from behind and jump out of the way, and some mobility scooters go a bit too fast too. I don't think anyone riding on the pavement should be going faster than a brisk walking pace.
