@star gaze lily, just admiring your dahlia again! It looks really healthy( unlike mine😬). Have you got in a pot? If so, what compost have you used? I must do better next year.
Thank you @Songbird-2 yes it's in a pot. I bought 3 tubers, grew all of them in separate pots. One just kept getting eaten by slugs and i lost that one. Another got a bit munched but grew back, but although it's bushy, it's not very tall. This one was a bit late to poke it's leaves through, but is quite tall and has a few other buds. I used some sort of potting compost that we ordered from the Big River 😉 I'll ask OH and let you know. Never grown them before, so could be beginners luck. Just hope I can keep the tubers over winter 🤞🤞
Red Velour is nearly reaching the floor. I have been giving liquid tom feed during August, in addition to the granular slow release and I reckon it doubled the bloom numbers. I've not had this kind of show before and I think it's to do with having full sun for a good part of the day in that spot. It has the prime position in the garden and is making the most of it.

I moved the thunbergias so they can climb on an obelisk and have max sun and they are enjoying it. It's strange how you can move a plant and it suddenly looks so much better. My garden is slowly moving into 'sunset shades'! Who knew? Not me.

A neighbour gave me a tiny canna and it has done well this first year with loads of water and food - this is its first bloom. I'm not into variagation or summer yellow but I love this - especially with sister dahlias and the dark foliage. The cannas got mollucked by slugs in the ground but clawed it back once in pots.
My amelanchier has decided to give me some additional flowers. They make me happy, like a child spreading their arms wide open for a hug: innocence and openness.
