Beautiful @Perki. I wish I still had Betty Corning, love the scent, I had to leave her behind when I moved.
Yes it does smell nice took a while to get going but its a little to vigorous now having to squeeze past it going in greenhouse, of course get a head full of flowers / scent .
Your new garden is coming on now not the best of years to establish a new border. How much smaller is the new garden compared to your old plot ?
It's about half the size, I think, @Perki but the old place had a lot more that was just land, grass to mow around the house, drive etc. I'm planning on a new border to make this winter, planted 4 yellow roses there last winter, against the fence, but haven't made the border yet. Then there will be a dry shade border round the corner at the end of the house.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
When I bought my allotment my son landscaped it into a garden for me. That was done over a few years as he lives abroad and worked for a few weeks each summer when he came to visit. As it is only across the road from the house there is no problem looking after it. Some pics of before and now. Before...
And now...
There is a pathway around the whole area as above, but can't be seen on the other pics with a further flower bed under the fuchsia hedge. Also a patio area at the top right which doesn't show. A lot of work but worth it.
