Wow, there's been a lot of hard work going on out there! @zugenie, it just shows what you can do with a bit of imagination, I hope your new garden gives you the same enjoyment. @Busy-Lizzie, what an idyllic garden! @ontopofthehill, another fantastic transformation, you've definitely learned a lot!
Fabulous gardens on this thread and some lovely ideas. Very well done to all of you.
The garden that I have now was one of those that had to have a digger in to remove half of it to build an extra room that I call a conservatory therefore I was left with a part garden with no plants. I'll fish some photographs out and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Like many, lockdown in 2020 was a pivotal moment. Sorry if there are too many pics The garden terraces down to a stream and the bottom bit could only be viewed (and successfully ignored) from the bedrooms at the back. Cue lockdown
Somebody finds the stream irresistible
The summerhouse is powered by solar - heating, lights, cooling and it's our little refuge to listen to the burbling stream. Why we waited 20 years to do it, I don't know.
I had to laugh at your pooch Penny_Forthem. My spaniel gets just like that and has the same pleased look on his face when he's managed it. That's a lovely sitting area that you've created.
@Busy-Lizzie@raisingirl We're very lucky with the views alright! Little windy (to put it mildly) up here but it's worth it. @Plantminded Thank you! We've been hitting it as hard as we can with small kids and not much time. It wasn't unheard of for us to be out with torches or tealights at 11pm last summer frantically planting, weeding or mulching. The neighbours think we're a bit nuts. I'm always so encouraged by this board though, learnt so much even just from lurking!

This year's change is to make the gravel path more winding and continue through the middle of the bottom bed.
