Many of you have seen the development of the community pavement plot over time. The bed once had a street tree in it, but it stayed empty for years; So we nabbed it last year and planted it up for pollinators. A group of about eight neighbours look after it. It gets no extra watering after plants are established. We use mostly easy, self-seeding, drought-tolerant, flowery plants, offering year round critter food with the most minimal work needed, to make it sustainable.
I had a similar thought a couple of days ago. I was taking off the dead leaves from my inherited rockery which is on a slope, with biggish limestone rocks, when I uncovered a small area of green glass pebbles. I'd previously arranged these under a green-leaved plant to give it added oomph when we'd opened for the NGS back in 2018 I suddenly wondered what would archaeologists think in years to come if they found them near the rocks - some kind of weird burial rite perhaps?

This area is mostly now occupied by the new summer house
Pretty much the same view as above but panning right slightly.
And now current (well 2018/2019) photos
