LB, PCR tests had to be paid for when travelling to the UK, luckily the UK now accepts LF tests which are cheaper, £20 - £40. LF tests for travel abroad here in France cost 25. PCR used to be up to £200, a real racket.

Thanks for the explanation Busy. You are right - a real racket indeed!

I've hadn't had to/wanted to test myself much but would have definitely done so less if there was a cost involved. Seems like the costs could easily mount up when travelling between France and the UK :(

Although I don't agree with all his antics, watching Kyrgios is never dull @ladybird4 ;) Even his on-court interview was infinitely more 'interesting' than Radacanu's, for example. See if you can guess which one said, "but erm" (pronounced budderm) several times in each reply and which one said, "I served f***ing well"? :D

  • @Songbird-1 I always make mine with real lemons and use a bottle of squeezy honey........easier to get the right amount of honey on the spoon 😉  Makes a lovely drink and really soothe the throat. I sometimes add dispersable paracetamol too.
@Busy-Lizzie Hope you test negative.  Take care.

Afternoon All, it was white over with frost this morning, nipped out to bring in the bins did not hang about brrr 🥶
LB Glad your boiler chap turned up in the end, good to know it’s all done. That is a lovely photo you took of the moon this morning, the colour of the sky was beautiful,
@debs64 Good to see you, sorry to hear middle daughter is still waiting on a first treatment due to her health, I hope she can start soon. And I hope this weekend away does you both good, sometimes the things we don’t expect to enjoy can be a pleasant surprise. Have an enjoyable day in your garden,
Hazel Hope the throat is improving, you had a nice quiet walk this morning hope that’s helped, how are your granddaughters?
SGl That is a very good tip for making your own honey & lemon I shall try that in future, after work I sometimes find myself a little bit hoarse 😉
Rubee I hope Rufus hadn’t had any more messy accidents since the other day and it was just a one off,
Bluebells I hope Alfie and you had a better nights rest, did you hear back from the email?
Need to finish doing some unmentionables, have a nice afternoon everyone.
  • @Chivetalking I boil a kettle and make a hot drink in a mug with a teaspoonful of honey (or a bit more depending on your taste) juice of half a lemon, giving it a good stir......and add dispersable paracetamol  sometimes.   It really works and is so soothing on the throat.......letting it cool a bit so it's warm ...i don't drink it like I would hot tea.

I need to put the hot heavy thing on material items......but think I'll leave it till tomorrow now 😉😂

Home made honey and lemon is my go to drink when I have a cold. My mother used to add a splash of whisky. And yes that was for children too. She was also a fan of brandy in hot milk when we were off-colour. Certainly helped us sleep!

  • @debs64 my MIL made it with whisky sometimes and the hot milk and concoction too. My OH used to have hot milk and whiskey when he had a bad cold or flu. But doesn't since he's had cancer, because of his throat.
Hope you're feeling a bit more like you x
