Hostafan, what would hubby say if he saw the state of your fridge? It bet it would be, swing round to Waitrose for some last minute treats in the sale. You need to keep your strength up, and no reason for it not to be with a few bargain festive goodies.

The rest of you are making me feel guilty, but I have to remind myself that Iโ€™m only cooking for two! Will make some fresh cranberry sauce in the microwave this afternoon, donโ€™t think thereโ€™s any point prepping any vegetables till the morning.ย
The turkey crown is in the oven at the moment, OH prefers it cold, so thereโ€™ll be plenty of time tomorrow, and room in the oven, for the stuffing, roasties and Yorkshire puds.
Trifle partly made and now the fridge, Iโ€™ll add the custard and cream tomorrow.ย
Bit of a relaxing afternoon now. Best wishes to all.

Think Iโ€™m done for a bit so Iโ€™m going to put my feet up for an hour.

So seems like the perfect time to wish all my Forker friends a very Merry Christmas. ย Hope one of these visits overnight โ€ฆ.

Back from the garage :) Tough choices.

We're going for a compromise - Bordeaux grape blend by Italians, '94 Ornellaia. I have a couple of less refined Bordeaux on standby just in case it's off.

    Beautiful piece of embroidery @chicky.
All our dinner will be prepared and cooked tomorrow, ย I did make pigs in blankets and sage and onion stuffing way back.
Just dug up the parsnips and prepared those, do the rest in the morning.
Got 3 dozen mince pies to do, wonโ€™t take long.

I'm all done too. Daughter arrived safely over an hour earlier than expected and had a good journey up M5/M4. Her cat isย  now asleep in the spareย  bedroom where it's quieter. She has given us a very nice bottle of champagne for tomorrow and the turkey crown is currently de-frosting in the porch. I'll do the veg tomorrow, it won't take long.

    Enjoy your Christmas Eve everyone.

Christmas pudding steaming so all we need to do tomorrow round at my daughter's is wrap it in foil and heat it through.ย  Sprouts being prepared (we par boil them before they get heated with butter and cooked chestnuts), cranberry sauce, tick, stuffing, tick.ย  Dried peas to go in soak later.ย  Our family have always had mushy peas with Christmas dinner - one of the highlights and always that anxious moment as a child - will there be enough left for me.ย  It could be a Northern thing, my mum's family originating from Co. Durham.ย  Now it's just me and my OH who eat them but I am not giving them up!

Sounds like everyone has got a everything under control so I wish you all a good day tomorrow however many of you there are at your tables. ( @Hostafan1 - special Christmas wishes to you).

Ooooh @didyw.ย  I found green split peas in the SM for the first time since we moved here and bought 2 packs - all there was.ย  ย Love mushy peas but not with our Xmas dinner which is duck breast and red wine and juniper sauce but there will be mushy peas with something and a pea and ham soup coming up soon.

All Xmas decs stuff put away and what I didn't finish this year will be good for next time.ย  Mince pies cooked and some eaten already.ย  Broad beans sown too and treasures checked in the polytunnel.

Love your embroidery @chicky.ย  ย  I finished some cross stitch motifs last night but still need to mount them to make these.ย

Happy feasting everyone.ย  Be safe as well as merry.

Sounds like the preparations are in full swing all round!!!
@Hostafan1 detectorists is my happy place favourite program of all time but the new red dwarf seriesย  that I think are shown on channel Dave are hysterical ๐Ÿ˜† x

Bread sauce made,ย  mulled wine made (and tested) homemade stuffing made and cooked to help cooker space tomorrow. All gifts delivered,ย  cup of darjeeling tea and half an hour with an audiobook then a final hoover and last few bits of washing up and I'm done until the chaos starts tomorrow ๐Ÿ™ƒย

A very merry Christmas to you all and all your loved ones and a happy and healthy New year!!!

    Not preparing anything.

I've just been to a local village Carol Singing in the Square, run by the C of E but the huge crib was done by the French villagers. There was mulled wine and stollen and I knew several people. Enjoyed it. But there was a sad note, a couple of friends were expecting family from the UK who now can't come as the French have closed the borders to the British. One friend was especially sad, her son couldn't come last year either and her husband has had cancer and is very frail.
