Got the mincepies baked, so am just sitting down with a cuppa and one to try - well, somebody's got to try them out. OH was second in the queue. Used all butter this time but am not so impressed with the texture, anybody try a half and half mix of margarine and butter? Always used to do half lard, half margarine but vegetarian daughter won't eat those.

Afternoon all. Just having a break for coffee and mince pie. Been preparing for beyond Xmas meals with some soup made for freezing later and a ragรบ part way through with a couple of hours to go once the tomato goes in. Thought I was doing well until I saw what @D0rdogne_Damsel had been up to! All Xmas supplies in and it feels odd to have everything ready with a couple of days to go.

This is the pastry I use for mince pies @Lizzie27 ย โ€ฆย delicious โ€ฆ light and crisp and a lovely flavour. It works with ordinary plain flour as well as strongย

Iโ€™ve always used half Trex, half margarine, ย lovely light pastry.
I used to bake for a market and always had orders.ย

Good morning @punkdoc and ย @Pat E ๐Ÿ˜Š โ˜•๏ธ and the rest of you as you arrive โ€ฆย

OHs last day at work โ€ฆ heโ€™s looking tired โ€ฆ I think heโ€™s feeling the strain of being around selfish customers who wonโ€™t wear masks or who wear them at half-mast ๐Ÿ˜กย
He was a bit snotty the other day so took a test but thankfully it was clear โ€ฆ so ๐Ÿคžย

Today I will take smoked salmon out of the freezer, make chocolate mousse, pigs in blankets and Devils on horseback, glaze the gammon and prep the veg โ€ฆ then weigh the beef and work out the roasting timings.ย

Then I will put my feet up, peel the sprouts and listen to Carols from Kings College โ€ฆ thatโ€™s the start of my Christmas โ€ฆ
