  • @punkdoc has anyone made an urgent referral to Adult Social
Services? ย I know they must be really stretched, but it is what they are there for and they should have some way of improving your MILโ€™s situation.ย

Thanks for the support and advice.

MIL has support 4 times a day, but it is at night it seems to be a real problem.
Moiras sister has gone up today and will stay till Thursday, when hopefully we will go up.
MIL has always refused to move into a home, but the feeling is that this resistance may be waning. Hopefully we will manage to get some respite care organised.

  • I think some respite care is a very good idea โ€ฆ in a similar situation the experience of being cared for in a good care home was so far removed from my auntโ€™s idea of what it would be like, that she never wanted to leave โ€ฆ and from being very frail and depressed and not expected to last long some 4 years ago, sheโ€™s hale and hearty and having a whale of a time, ย with care she can rely on and folk to talk to.ย

Pat E, I do the logic puzzles on Puzzlebaron when I canโ€™t sleep, and need to keep my brain occupied. Have you tried them?

Not yet Ergates. Sounds ok though. Thanks. The thing I like most about jigsawplanet is that I can put my own photos on; so a bit more fun.

    Morning all,

I got behind and never got round to catching up ;)ย

Good job I'm not asleep much so I can respond to 5am texts requesting water :o OH is awaiting the results of a Covid test but has symptoms and a work colleague who has it. We're all using separate rooms and I'm double-jabbed so fingers crossed that I can avoid catching it. I've just arranged to catch up on everything that I've let slide due to lockdowns and work so don't particularly want to cancel forthcoming appointments - blood donation, dentist, car service, etc. etc.

    I slept like a log โ€ฆ weโ€™ve woken to a damp foggy morning โ€ฆ
It looks as if most of the country has rain today, with the exception of @punkdoc who appears to have snow โ›„๏ธ. Stay warm and dry folks

Today I must get on with wrapping the presents that must be posted and writing the cards โ€ฆ and I have two birthday cards to make for OH and son whose birthdays are on the 19th and 22nd!ย

    Good morning!

Bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning!! ย Cool, windy and cloudy - the sun may make an appearance later.

Lots to do - here and there, there and here. ย

@punkdoc ย I hope you get your MIL sorted before Christmas. ย Any chance of her taking on someone to live there in return for care?

@Dovefromabove and all who are writing cards and organising presents, hang in there!

A pleasant day to you all.

    Hi all
Yes we are expecting snow today, just wet and windy at the moment.
We have tried to get live in care for MIL in the past, but the cost is prohibitive.
