How, on earth, are they allowed to get away with it!

One of the things that gets me is the adverts you see on pinterest and other sites.  Miracle creams that get rid of varicose veins.  Face creams that remove scars and blackheads at a swipe.  All of them are blatant lies but the web sites allow them to advertise.  These are scams supported by business.  It's disgraceful.

                                              pension scams

    From the ?Which? :https://www.which.co.uk/news/article/7-pension-scams-to-watch-out-for-az6346X8al5J?utm_medium=email&utm_source=engagingnetworks&utm_campaign=scam_alert&utm_content=Scam+Alert+110822+B

“Anyone who saves into a pension can be the victim of a pension scam - it doesn’t matter how financially savvy you are.

Pension scams can take many forms and usually appear to be a legitimate investment opportunity. You may be persuaded to cash in your pension and hand over the money to be invested.

Victims can lose more than £50,000 on average, according to Action Fraud data from 2021. And it’s estimated by a think-tank, The Police Foundation, that £2.5tn of pension wealth in the UK is accessible to fraudsters - a huge target base for criminals.

(The Which mentions several;here I've chosen just one but you can use the link above to see them all.)

     Claims management companies

Not all claims management companies (CMCs) are scams, however TPF has included them in its list in cases where cold calling practices are used.

Cold calling about pensions is illegal, and is therefore a likely sign of a scam. Since the ban was introduced tactics have now evolved, and you may be contacted through social media instead.

Scammers who contact you will often claim you've been mis-sold a pension, and will then ask for a fee to begin a claims process.”

Property scam worth taking action over.
Important if you do not have a mortgage or if you are away from home and leave the property empty.

Passing something that doesn't work as the opposite, in order to make money, is a scam in my book; the ?Which? is warning those who care:

I heard so many horror stories about EBay that I never, ever bought a single thing from there; however, I've always trusted Amazon, so I'm somewhat shocked.

A little positive view of that well known auction site @Sam 37. I have been a member on that site for 18 years and have purchased over 1,000 items and have never experienced any difficulty at all. Most of my garden has been stocked from there and once you get to 'know' sellers you can feel happy from buying from them again. A great number of high street stores now have their own dedicated sites on there.
I have no doubt that there are negative stories, just as there will be about the other mentioned site - which I do use for my e-reader - but there are positive ones too.

Profound apologies, I seem to have offended you! That wasn't my intention.

Oh gosh no @Sam 37. I'm truly sorry if I gave you that impression. Anything but! I just wanted to let you know my experiences.
