I had an email from someone purporting to be a chap we knew asking if we had received his email the day before, this chap died in the summer so that would have been a bit hard!!
Buyer beware on this one. I ordered a garden trowel and hadn't received an order confirmation by the following morning so checked for payment via Paypal on my bank account. It had been done in USD and a different name to the trading company. I alerted Paypal straightaway and it suggested sending a email to the company which I did. No reply. Despite the company purporting to be UK based I tracked a contact address to somewhere in the USA, I think.
To cut a very long story short of going round and round with Paypal they wouldn't refund the money because the seller told them Fedex had delivered the article and gave a tracking number but I wasn't shown any proof. I couldn't access that number so how the heck Paypal had I've no idea. The day after the refund refusal PP had the cheek to ask for feedback on how staff had dealt with the problem. I'm sure you can imagine my blistering reply ending with me telling them I shall be closing my 20 year old blemish free account with them.
It's not just small or overseas companies. I ordered a tablet from Samsung themselves (Samsung.com) which was supposed to be delivered the next day by DPD. It wasn't, and despite promising to deliver every day for the whole of the following week (during which I had to stay at home because they couldn't leave it in a safe place or with a neighbour) it was never delivered.
You can imagine the words that came out of my mouth when I received an email from Samsung telling me "Your order has been successfully delivered". I was working in the front garden at the time they'd logged as the delivery time.
Someone in the chain has obviously nicked it.
Clay soil - Cheshire/Derbyshire border. I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful
Addendum to my last post. Paypal has now refunded my money after yet more wrangling on my part. The assistant has assured me that the matter has been sent to their fraud dept. where they will keep an eye on the sellers account. All's well that ends well... or is it? My guess is that the seller will still be 'trading' this time next week.
I ordered a new pair of gloves from Dents. The day it was supposed to be delivered by DPD there was a problem. I left it two days then complained. Three days later DPD turned up with a box with an "Opened for inspection" sticker on it. The gloves and the inner box were carefully wrapped in bubble wrap inside. The original box looked like a dog had chewed it. Gloves were for me and Ok otherwise they would be going back. It took two weeks from despatch to delivery. It looks like someone ripped the original open to see if it was worth nicking and then changed their mind.
Ulphavillage stores might have a co.uk email address but they are listed as being in New Jersey USA at the bottom of the page where it says contact us.
Now wouldn't you think that that information would have led Paypal to follow my claims @fidgetbones? Trouble is how many other people will lose their money
The prices all look too good to be true. The chances of them being delivered from USA are poor I think. I don't buy on ebay from the USA at all, chances of correct delivery with no problems such as customs is not worth the risk.
